Dead players eventually become lootable zombies

Recommended Posts

Someone has probably made this suggestion already, but I'll just throw it out there anyway.

I think it'd be awesome if dead players rose as zombies after a certain amount of time. They could either roam the area where the player died or perhaps they could be added to a spawn list of "unique" zombies that show up all over Chernarus.

Other players could then run into these zombies and kill them for their stuff. This would add a great deal of variety and realism to the zed population, and create the opportunity for more meaningful (and profitable) zombie encounters. These encounters would also present more of a challenge to the player if the zombie is particularly well equipped with helmets, assault vests, etc.

I'm sure this will be a challenge to implement but I believe it would be well worth it, and at the very least is worth considering.

They're not actual zombies, atleast not walking-dead style zombies. They don't ´´reanimate´´ and they're not really dead either.

The "zombies" in DayZ are humans that are infected with a virus. The survivors are immune, hence not being infected already.

Seems odd to me that every one thinks this is set in stone. Do you not think if the developers saw that an alternate method would result in better balance or game play, that they would not be reasonable enough to consider changing it.

I personally think they have come across as very open to suggestions and intelligent about their decisions.

I like the idea to be honest, as the OP said it would bring more meaningful zombie encounters without some weird special zombies that some other posts have suggested.

As we're trying to be as "authentic" as possible with DayZ it's pretty much and it's undeniable that the only way a "zombie" pandemic could happen is via an airbourne virus, I think it is almost set in stone.

Besides, Rocket has explicitely expressed negative views towards players becoming zombies on death, and has said that this is not something that he would like to implement in DayZ.

Yeah, but they can be infected anyway, cause survivors lost their immune when dying. I think it's a good idea that will make game more interesting.

I would go into an indepth explanation of why this is impractical and a bad idea including what Rocket has said about this himself...but since this suggestion has already been suggested too many times to count...LAST WEEK ALONE (Suggestions? Ok. The exact same suggestions that have been posted 100 times already? No.) and constitutes a definite search fail on your part I'm just going to leave you with this thought:
