How to read books?

I've seen several threads with players mentioning that they read the books they find. How do you do this?

 

I can only choose "Inspect" when I pick one up and right click it, and then it only shows the cover (upside down). I cannot take it into my hands, and if I try to add it as a hotkey I just drop it on the ground.

Put it on your action bar.

Thanks for the help. I finally managed to read one. It was weird because I had tried the action bar before, but it wouldn't register so instead I just dropped the book. But after some tries the book finally got stuck to action bar and then I could read it. Possibly desync problems, although I could do everything else fine.

 

@Gaint: Right clicking it when it is in inventory doesn't give an option for reading it, it only gives the inspect option. You can't drag it to hands when in inventory either, only the action bar method seems to work. I suspect that is a bug.
