Drifting Zombies

Recommended Posts

So this may be a silly idea, but i thought it would be cool to add ''drifting zombies''. Random numbers of infected who just travel randomly in random directions on the map. Have you ever seen the scene in ''The Walking Dead'', where Rick shoots Shane and then the camera rises and shows an enormous number of infected coming slowly towards them? Like the zombies are migrating or something like that. I thought it would add more tension to the parts when you travel from town to town and it's starting to feel like a hiking simulator. Imagine you're hunting, you fire off a shot at a rabbit, only to see in the horizon tens of infected coming towards you, drawn from the noise, even if you are deep in the forest. Especially at night that would be scary, in my opinion. And maybe this would add more complexity to the combat. You have a shootout with another guy, and the noise attracts a ''travelling horde''. You could team up with him temporarily, or you could take advantage of that and fall back. Or, you see a guy running from a horde. Will you shoot him / let the zombies have their lunch, or help him and win a friend? And maybe this would be interesting if and when they add player-made constructions in the environment. You have just completed your house, and a horde accidentally finds you, and ''blocks'' you, and it becomes like a tower-defence, like in 7 Days to die, where the infected smash windows and doors to get to you. Well, actually, that would be too ambitious lol. I just thought it would add so much more tension and stress to the player, who thinks: ''oh i'm out of town, so i'm safe.'' That would vanish, and at the same time increases the difficulty to a reasonable amount, to encourage players to help each other and team up, and not having wild west-like shootouts with everyone they see for some beans.

So excuse my English, feel free to comment and hate/approve this idea. Thank you for your time.
