"Long Range Scope" as alternative to Binoculars

A friend and I came across this yesterday as we heard gunshots far north, there aren't many ways to scout the place out without the use of a sniper scope(attached to rifle). If you don't have this you need some binoculars/range-finders, which aren't currently in the game yet I believe. Using a long range scope in your hands would be perfect, of course if they are damaged it would effect your view.

I think some where on the forum someone stated that they would allow you to use scopes as bino's.
