Thought it'd be a nice feature.

Basically go up to the animal, MMB scroll to kill. It's quite annoying to have to drop my primary to equip the axe or shoot the animal with a loud gun.

Animals in real lfe use to detect you from a distance, that would just look retarded.

Have you even been near a cow in real life? I have. I spent many summers on a farm. They don't run away that easily. Don't know about pigs/goats.
