We're in alpha. I'll run around the map, and all, but If I see something that may be a bug, I'm not adverse to server hopping at that place and seeing if it's something up with one particular server or is identical across multiple servers. I've also hopped like crazy when looking at loot spawn points to see if the variability of items is what it should be. You can't do any testing of that on a single server as you can't differentiate a spawn point that isn't working as it should from one that's just been looted by a player.

Hell yeah! Come on, if you run whole IRL day to NWAF and find it empty, you do what?

Say: "oh bad luck" and leave???

NO you change server, d'oh.

+1. You aren't going to run from the coast to NWAF or NEAF and not get what you came for. This will change if you're tied to a private server, but by then we should have good robust loot/zombie respawn working.

I guess I'm one of those rare people who actually gets excited if I have to deal with a lack of gear because an area has already been looted. I don't see that as some kind of problem that needs to be fixed, I see it as a challenge. It's the hand I was dealt, I'm not going to instantly fold and demand more cards, I'll see how the game goes.

Think of all the amazing times you guys could have potentially had scavenging for the smallest scrap of food or drink in a looted server, if only you didn't chicken out and hop.

I've never died to a lack of loot. The only thing that starves people to death is a lack of motivation. Don't just search a couple houses, find nothing and get discouraged, start feeling sorry for yourself, and decide that the only hope for survival is to server hop. At that point you're already dead, no matter how long you live for after hopping, you're still a cowardly failure on legs.

I am disappointed such a large portion of this forum thinks so highly of their server hopping tactics. Tisk, tisk.

I hop sometimes when there is no gear left in the area I'm.

The fact is, I rarely have more than a hour a day I can spend playing DayZ, so I have to make the best of it. Wasting an hour to hike from MSTA to Staroye and then Shakhovka like I did just now only to find 3 cans of food, a pair of cargo pants and a hat is not time well spent.

You know - yesterday Me and my friend goes, after we got some fireweapon, to the north airfield(biggest one) and you know what? We spend 2 hours to run there(we had amunition so we can't run like when you just spawnd)And then we found it was looted long ago and there was no other adequate option, only loop/hop/change server to loot that stupid airfield where we found nothing but crap - and then hop'd again - then we, run'd to the Balota and joined almost-full server then fought 3 guys, he sniped and i was going mid-range combat, i died and took 2 persons(they were fat) then one of them reloged there (they had one rat who run away) and my sniper got him..
•! Meanwhile on the coast i was running from Solnechniy to balota, INFORMATION - Time needed to run there was like 20 minutes including the only place where i stopped - in Chernogorsk to drink from water column and to find one stew and eat it, it was enough to calm my hunger and thirst, which one was on second level(orange) then i run to the balota.
Then i found my dead body and took it all back, i was laught when found my stuff ruined same as theirs.
••••Then was the most funny thing i ever saw in dayz

After i looted their useless crap (because i shooted rapidly in them(i am newb in dayz so for me was hard to find out when i should shoot at collimator and when to iron sight below(because sometimes bullet went or to the red dot or to iron sight, probably it is depends from distance)
-Then my friend told
- damn, i am dead.
-Wat?
-i told you i heard 2x times that someone near me opened cola, it could not be just a bug
/ I runned straight to him, he was under the fir-tree, till i tryed to find that .... who shoot him, my friend woke up and stopped bleeding, after a few secs when i was running near that place like elk happens next:

• That enemy sniper just lay down in front of my friend and probably wanted to loot him till I find them, my friend just press - backspace- and then shoot in that sniper straight to the head.
That was funny and we yelled like crazy looted him a litle bit like 10 seconds - then - red words told us that's server is restarting.

Personally, one of the worst things about the mod was guaranteed loot. It didn't matter if the whole area was picked clean minutes ago, the loot would still appear out of thin air just because you entered that area. This meant people would never bother visiting more than a few locations because smaller villages were pointless and 95% of the map was unused.

Now we have these new lovely enterable buildings and a reason to explore the map and yet people still play the game the same way as the mod. "Oh, I ran from the coast straight to NWAF, I should get what I came for". Well, no you shouldn't. Even when they do implement loot respawning it will be server controlled instead of being triggered by a client entering the area. Meaning you could still walk to X and find nothing because someone was there recently. People will of course still server hop then finding another excuse to justify it.
