General Desire 22 Posted January 10, 2014 I'm really having fun with SA, but in another thread a guy said he bought Arma2 because he liked SA so much. Is it really worth it? I like seeing SA progress and was under the impression that the mod would bleed out relatively quickly.
gray-z@hotmail.co.uk 84 Posted January 10, 2014 The Mod will probably not die until after the final release of SA. If you are going to get Arma 2 for the mod then you should buy Combined Operations as you get all the DLC and high texture packs required for the Mod. You should also download DayZ Commander for simplicity when downloading and playing the variety of DayZ mods out there. A lot of them are fun and I still go back once in a while to change it up a bit.
hogscraper 328 Posted January 10, 2014 Considering the lack of depth to SA right now I doubt the mod is in any danger of bleeding out any time soon. Whether or not its worth buying is up to you, though. I still play the mod.
deebz1234 243 Posted January 10, 2014 isnt arma 2 CO like $20? hells ya its worth it. list of flavours for you to try (after vanilla DayZ mod) OverwatchEpochOrigins all very very fun there was a method of using Arma 2 Lite (free) and running DayZ perfectly fine, except some of the textures were not as nice as they could be...This is a legal method, not a pirated copy or anything. General Desire 22 Posted January 10, 2014 Yeah lol I missed it for 6 euros during Christmas, cause I bought SA that day. But I like SA so think I might as well stay with this one for now.. Have to graduate anyway ;) Maybe at some point when arms is cheap again.
spiitz 0 Posted January 10, 2014 It is totally worth it. Apart from the fact that multiple different mods are available, you can try the "normal" ArmA 2 as well. I started with ArmA 2 from the release but I never got bored by it.But, if you want to graduate, do that first as ArmA will take away a lot of time.:-)
GpB311 236 Posted January 10, 2014 Im going to buy it for sure...Seeing all the fun with vehicles, weapons, and locations on other people's youtube videos is making me jealous.
GpB311 236 Posted January 10, 2014 Would buying the complete collection bundle offer anything related to the DayZ mod or is everything you need in the CO bundle?
hogscraper 328 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) There are two expansion packs that give better graphics on character models. British Armed Forces gives you higher res textures on the ghillie suit and some military vehicles and gear and Private Military Company gives you much better character models and some clothes.http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/131258-dayz-pmc-dlc-high-res-textures-pics/This guy put up some different textures screens and when I installed them I think I stood looking at his new pants for five minutes. New games are better, but at the time I was definitely happy with my purchase. Almost a necessity at this date. Edited January 10, 2014 by hogs
