If I play on another computer will I have my char and gear?

If I switch to a different computer, would my character keep all his stuff or is it stored locally?

Yes its saved to your steam account. so changing computers won't make you start fresh

Actually I recently switched to a stronger computer. On login it did not display my character and when I clicked play it put me on a fresh spawn. I know for a fact I didn't die before. So good luck switching.

Who cares? You are going to die in this game. Whether a player, zombie, glitch it server reset does it, get used to losing all your gear. I don't think you will by default when switching computers. I the the person before me who said it happened to them may have started a new spawn for another reason (glitch, char wipe server, etc..).

Try it. If you lose gear so what?

Wheb I lose gear after cleanly logging out and next day log in, I simply accept the fact that I died in my sleep. Which is plausible in a zombie apocalypse world of fiction.

thats beacuse you server hop to much and some servers wipe your character out you need to pick a server and stick with it i havent lost my character once since ive been on modern vikings or it mite be beacuse you dindn't log out properly or it could be just that you left during a server reset or joined try my advice should stop from losing ur gear i know how frustrating it can be to lose a full kit.

Your DayZ character is tied to your steam account/id.  DayZ characters are stored on BI's servers, not locally so it doesn't mater if you change computers.

If you notice your character has been reset, it's usually symptomatic of frequent server hoppers.  Character wipes can be caused by glitches/bugs, server files not properly updated, server not whitelisted on public hive or server desync with public hive.

ok thanks well figured it was tied to steam, but somewhere I read that if you delete some file on your computer it resets your character?
