tullyburnalot 26 Posted January 8, 2014 Sit around me, young survivors, and listen as I spin a tale of daring courage and spectacular cowardice! A tale of survival, of betrayal, of death, of... Oh screw it. MAPS! Seriously now, MAPS! Having spawned at Kamenka (or whatever it's called) and moving up to the Military base NE of Green Mountain, then hitting the NWAF SEVEN TIMES (yes, I server hopped. No, I didn't take a single thing), then finally making camp at Devil's Castle, here's what I found: 1. Stinking. Map Fragment. Tourist map of West Chernarus. Really? Just... Really? I understand that maps are extremely valuable, and would be one of the things most people would take with them should they need to run away from a zombie infestation (which is why most maps are located inside cars, I'm assuming). But come on now! A freshly spawned military base, with an ATC tower and military encampment, and no maps? That's just dumb. Sure, back in the mod maps were all over the place, but this is kind of extreme, isn't it?
raynor009 204 Posted January 8, 2014 I really have no use for maps. I can just go and look it up online if I need to. If you know the landscape well then a compass is what you need if you travell a lot.

floj 393 Posted January 8, 2014 I've seen little if no maps at military bases. Cars and gas stations are where it's at man
tullyburnalot 26 Posted January 8, 2014 I understand that, but: 1) I hate having to alt-tab every time I wanna get my bearings. Considering I spent most of my time up north, a compass becomes useless after walking through the woods for an hour; 2) Call me old fashioned, but I think using the dayzdb map is immersion breaking. If I'm to use a map, it'll be the in-game map. Not to mention that the in-game map tells me how many players are online, so yeah. 3) It allows me to place markers, which are quite a life-saver, again, because I spend most of my time hanging around the northern woodlands. EndEffeKt 87 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Who uses maps when you have this? http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplusPeople that dont want to use third party software? EDIT: Not everything is spawning or has to spawn at military bases. Look inside cars and gas stations, I can only point that out. zhrike 264 Posted January 8, 2014 I found four in my first life. None sufficient to put together, and two dupes (E or N, can't remember which). Since then, nothing, and many hours played. I had E, N, and NW fragments. I like them being rare.

I had E, N, and NW fragments. I like them being rare. It took me several days to even find one fragment (S Chernarus, useless for me). And while the rarity is welcome, I honestly believe the spawn rates are a bit too low.

It's free and it has the whole map for Chernarus+ and some extras like guides, weapons list, clothing and all that. I:m not advertising btw.
