Switching from hatchet to rifle help

This is a friendly question.

I have a rifle equipped and I have a hatchet in my toolbelt. When I switch from my rifle to my hatchet it drops my rifle and it disapears. Is there any way to prevent this through smart equipment management or is there a trick I can use to not lose my gear?

Take it in your backpack, otherwise I don't think there is another way.

The hatchet takes your primary slot, I think. So when you go to swap to your hatchet, your rifle disappears due to a bug.

Double-click your backpack, put the rifle in the backpack and then take the hatchet, if you don't do that it's gonna glitch out and disappear.

ok. So it's still a bug that needs to be addressed. I had the starting backpack so I couldnt hold a rifle. That was what i tried to do but realized it was too small hehe.
