Best way to lose zombies that are chasing you?

Don't run...just kill them. They aren't human anymore...

 

What a disingenous answer. Sometimes you will encounter zombies when you don't have any weapons.

 

Anyway they are fairly easy to lose. As have already been mentioned you can just sprint in a straight line away from them. After some distance they will stop chasing you.

 

The "zombies going through walls" bug can also be used to the players advantage. Go up some stairs, sometimes they just go through the stairs in the attempt to follow you, end up outside the house, lose line of sight and forget about you. This doesn't always work that way though, sometimes they actually manage to climb the stairs, in that case, just descent the stairs when they are ascending them. When you pass them, they will lash out at you, thereby taking a step forward, but they should be missing you as you continue your descend, thus ending up going through the wall, and ending up outside the house. Again they lose line of sight and forget about you.
