BigShowJoe 1 Posted January 7, 2014 So I've seen and talked to a lot of players who have randomly lost their characters and been put back on the coast as a new spawn. This has happened to me a few times as well. I thought of a possible cause and have been testing to see if it is plausible. For me at least, it seems as these character losses occur when I exit the game and immediately go into another server. My thought is that maybe the server you are coming out of needs a few extra seconds to update the hive database and if you log into another server too quickly, the game has no save data for you. I have been testing this today and allowing 60 seconds between exiting one server and joining another and I have had no character loss. Just thought I'd share my thoughts. What do you guys think? TedZ 424 Posted January 7, 2014 This is an bug due to location from my experience, say if you log on an UK server play it for a few hours then switch to US you can lost your gear, soon as possible if you switch back to an Offical UK server you'll most likely get your gear back. LouisK 85 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) It is caused by the server you've joined not being white listed to the main hive thus not having access to your character data. colinm9991 196 Posted January 7, 2014 I've noticed while ago that it's only with certain servers. For example, I am fully geared up and was playing in a DE Server, the server restarted so I re-joined what I thought was that server but it was actually a GB on the latest experimental build and my character was wiped, back on the coast. I logged out of that server ready to quit the game, but I had seen that the original DE server I was playing in was back up so I re-joined to chance, my gear and character was back and I'm still using that character now even in the latest experimental builds... dromagewok@hotmail.com 164 Posted January 7, 2014 It's likely just a hive to server communication and data save corruption. If it can't load your characters data it will replace it with a brand new character thus wiping your old character. To prevent this I usually stay between 5 servers on my favorites list that I trust and I haven't had my character wiped randomly in a week or so. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
