Some Suggestions for the Hardcore Mode and its Hive

Some ideas to make the Hardcore mode, more Hardcore and balanced.

 

Locked would or could equal what ever level the devs decided was best minimum or maximum level that didn't give an advantage to one player over another.

 

An example would be Shadows... min level = medium and max level = Very High.

 

Video settings :-

 

Gamma locked

Brightness Locked

Terrain detail locked

Texture detail locked

Clouds locked

Shadows locked

and anything else which gives an advantage when lowered locked.

 

Things like motion blur and post process might be a bad idea to lock as it makes some people prone to motion sickness when playing in first person

 

Game play settings :-

 

Head bob locked (could be a problem with motion sickness)

FOV locked or only allow zoom out to stop people using fov as an instant scope or an extension of a scope.

 

 

Server and hive settings :-

 

Let the Hive control loot re-spawning rather than the server, so that admins cannot restart a server to get new loot spawns.

Make it so a server restart uses the last time before the restart. (only applicable if gamma and brightness is locked)

Lock the day night cycle to the hive so a server cannot be 24hrs daytime. (only applicable if gamma and brightness is locked)

Make loot respawns governed by the Hive a long long time make it more about survival than looting.

 

Let the flames begin :)

Hehe, no flame although these suggestions have been brought up many times, but why lock clouds, textures and terrain? Or head bob? Where is the advantage of having a high headbob?!

 

Your list doesn't seem thought thorugh all the way....

locking video and gameplay settings is rly stupid i think.

 

1. u cant exclude ppl with a bad pc and 2. ppl with a good pc does not want to play on shitty grafics.

 

and like u mentioned by ur self :the head bobbing motion sickness is aweful. if u have not experienced that dont write something like that.

Head bob is locked so everyone has it set at whatever its locked at by the devs

 

The idea is that all play at the same level of game settings

 

Low terrain = less grass for some

clouds off at night increases visibility

Lower textures = easier to spot people against low textured walls etc

O yes i forgot shadows should be locked also

Disagree about clouds, they cause massive frame drops at the moment (might be just in alpha), but never lock clouds AND shadows. Really looking forward to the hardcore mode.

hardcore doesn't mean we start playing like console peasants..... and dammit, if I want better textures and a high/low headbob I have the right to get it!

 

Hardcore means : Locked FOV, locked brightness and gamma. (and no third person, duh), everything more becomes too much.

And they will all be locked on ON.

If the are allowed to change terrain and textures it totally defeats the purpose behind having them locked, you can turn terrain detail to low and all the foliage disappears.

On your screen you might be hiding behind some foliage, on their screen you're in the middle of nowhere.

Grass render distance is locked anyways (I thought) and bushes don't just dissapear as far as I know, so your argument fails..... (I see the point though)

terrain is locked by the server same a view distance but the lowering of it in the settings does alter the amount of foliage slightly special over distance.

It is not completely, especially at long distances.

The quality does change it.
