DeepEuphoria 69 Posted January 7, 2014 Hi everyone, I've just bought the SA Alpha as I wanted to get used to it and also to try and hopefully help with bug reporting. I'm DL'ing it as I speak, so I wanted to ask a quick question about settings when it's installed. I was always advised when playing the Mod version that it was actually a Benefit (Pro Tip) to lower the settings in-game so that grass and stuff doesn't render in past a few dozen meters away from you, giving you the ability to see a player prone/grouched in the grass. So, is this still a good idea in the SA Alpha?? Thanks all appreciate it.
Korsbaek 1778 Posted January 7, 2014 It's still a good idea. A lot of people exploit it right now...
TedZ 424 Posted January 7, 2014 Ye, that's a good idea, i personally on my 450£ Computer i can run DayZ with no problems in MAX settings, i'd advise you to turn off Vsync and Rotation Blur to help you benefit a little better depending on your Specs Gimme yo BEAANS :beans: (LOL)
DeepEuphoria 69 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) It's still a good idea. A lot of people exploit it right now... Arh excellent that's good to know, thanks pal =) Ye, that's a good idea, i personally on my 450£ Computer i can run DayZ with no problems in MAX settings, i'd advise you to turn off Vsync and Rotation Blur to help you benefit a little better depending on your Specs Gimme yo BEAANS :beans: (LOL) Thanks as well for the info.I have a pretty high end rig that I built in the summer last year solely for DayZ, so I'm confident of having no problems running the game at any settings..... famous last words as I've seen lots of people having terrible fps problems even on mid/high end rigs lol. But I'm not too bothered about maxing it, I was just curious if that whole not rending stuff at distance was still a good idea, so a player prone in grass thinks he is in cover and I can't see him, so he can easier shot me, but because of the grass not rending I Can see him =D Do you guys have any other tips regarding the settings, things that are known to be buggy, badly optimised or plain don't work??Cheers guys Edited January 7, 2014 by euphoria4949
ottovonlarnie 4 Posted January 7, 2014 I try to play with my settings on as high as I can go all the time for every game (that's the way it should be played!), I am fortunate that on my PC I have no problems running everything on max and still get 45-60FPS. Despite some people saying that certain settings cause bad FPS drop, I haven't seen any significant change in frame rates other than what you'd normally expect. Resolution and effect detail seem to soak up most of the resources here, none of the post processing or anti aliasing settings seem to change anything noticeably. My laptop seems to run it well with medium settings, but that is at a lower resolution, my advice is... Spend a good 10 minutes tweaking your settings in a quiet corner of the map, see what works best for your rig and you. Try not to disable post processing if you can help it, as it serves as the only indicator of your health status (it's responsible for the blurry screen which gets worse the less health you have). Also, I have seen the benefit of tweaking my FOV to a slightly higher value!
DeepEuphoria 69 Posted January 7, 2014 Ok cool, I wasn't aware of the post processing so that's really helpful, thank you. Well, thank you guys really appreciate your help and advice, I'll give it a try and see how goes.Happy hunting =)
ottovonlarnie 4 Posted January 7, 2014 You're welcome! and yes, that post processing tip is important, lots of people assume its buggy because they sometimes can't get the blurriness to go away (its also quite severe at times). But this isn't a bug, its actually an important indicator.
