A LMG or maybe even a 50 HMG would be the ideal choice for protecting checkpoints against cars, not a slow semi auto expensive sniper rifle.

M240 LMG 762X51 - the browning 50 HMG, and the Barrett M82 isn't slow.

But you wouldn't use a sniper, you would use a LMG/HMG.  

And you could just fire a few bursts of 7.62 and kill the drivers, instead of trying to stop the car, and it would be cheaper than 50's.  

BTW: like I said, rifle rounds easily penetrate cars, and several bullets hitting the engine would seriously damage it.

You can't always get what you want. and do you want less, not more when you're life is on the line.

I COULD SEE jets being added.  Jets, as my father has flown himself, are easier than flying model aircraft.  The hard part is dealing with high G turns and the scary feeling of "HOLY SHIT 1000 MILES IN THE AIR FASTER THAN SOUND I'M GOING TO DIE!!!" or, also called stress.  You do need to be fit to fly jets but remembering the fact that your character can run kilometers straight without dropping means he is more than fit enough. 

EDIT: I forgot to mention about jets. Besides stress, the other hard part is figuring out the radar.  

Helicopters on the other hand, as you have said, are EXTREMELY HARD to fly.  My father knew heli pilots in the Navy (he was in the air force) and even for them, every flight was a flight into hell.

What you say about jets being easy to fly sounds interesting but I hope they aren't added because I don't want to have someone drop bombs on me whilst I am walking out of electro feeling proud I have just found a cool rifle with ammo, and if Helios are difficult to fly for professionals then your character wouldn't even be able to take off

I never said Browning HMG was slow. I said the sniper is slow. You think that you can effectivily take out a car within 5 with a sniper?

We are talking about the military. With that logic the US should storm the terrorists in Iraq with a bunch of Abrahms tanks because their life is on the line. Would result in less deaths, right? I mean, their life is on the line, they need the best no matter the cost.

Even if they were so stupid, likely the guys on the other side would have been as stupid as the guy asking and used it themselves. The pandemic is world wide.

We did that because we predicted of WMD's and heavy armored resistance, hence the tanks.

It's a 15kg (unloaded) American rifle. It has no place in a post-apocalyptic post-soviet state...

 

I agree, M107 has no place in post-apocalyptic world and in terms of logic, not a single helicopter or anyone

would be carrying this weapon in a zombie outbreak, since it doesnt serve a function, that anyother

lighter sniper rifle couldnt do, its not like zombies are driving armored vehicles.

 

Its massively unpractical weapon and only encourages shooting-on-sight simply because you cannot move it around

that well. Id say every single smart person in apocalypse would leave this  weapon be even if they didnt have a weapon at all,

simply because its dead weight.

 

Also civilians do not drive around with armored cars to escape, so not necessary 

and actual tanks could stop them as well, that would have been there to stop outbreak.

the answer is: you wont.

 

If there will be any helis ingame, you would have to use your "normal" anti personell weapons against it.

so that will make helis superior.

 

i guess of they will be in theyll be rare, super hard to repair and really super hard to refuel

 

Without a .50 Cal how in the hell am I going to shoot down your helicopter at 1000m in the sky.

 

 

^Somthing very close to the .50 will be in during launch. That I can promise cause as already stated without a Anti-vehicle weapon then even a 1985 Toyo Pickup is a rolling tank at anything over 500m.

What extremely shallow thinking! One; you don't want to be punching great big holes in what is probably the only helo you're ever going to see in game. You track down that pilot and you shoot him in the head. Then you steal his ride. End of.

As much as I try and stay on topic with my posts I'll weigh in with my thoughts on the introduction of Heli's if they are ever introduced.

 

Since the current engine is a modified version of the 'Take on Helicopters' engine then I'd say that every single aspect of Heli flight in 'ToH' is carried over. This includes full start up and shut down procedures and the default is Maximum difficulty. Zero aids whatsoever. You want to play apocalypse pilot?... Yes! Then you best get yourself a copy of 'ToH' so you can do the appropriate 'Training' in order to have the necessary skills to pilot the chopper because that's the only chance you're going to have to get any practice in. Then and only then would I say that it's acceptable to introduce choppers into the game. And that's not even getting into the requirements and processes required to maintain and fuel the damn thing.

 

Now I just heard a massive outburst and a wall of flame rushing towards me......  :o "WTF!! You expect me to buy another game in order to play one aspect of this one???? FLAME ON!!!".

 

Well why not. It's good for sales and maintains a sense of realism and simulation that makes a game of this sort satisfying. Also, just give it a week or two and there will be a whole host of YouTube guides for you to watch. There are too many suggestions and requests that basically translate into "Can I haz standalone likez the Overwatch Mod plz" or "Can I haz this game eazy mode plz". I for one want this game to be as hard as possible where doing the most basic of things is in itself a small achievement and gives a much greater sense of immersion and realism and satisfaction, and I know I'm not the only one out there. And Please........ PLEASE, can we have a lot of the aspects of the ArmA ACE mod brought into the game. Real life isn't as easy as point and click  :P
