How I became a hunter...

Recommended Posts

My story of becoming a bandit.

I have played Arma, Arma2, and Arma3. The videos for SA is what brought me to buy. I played for a bit, but after watching video after video of mostly the MOD version, I gave in, got Dayz Commander, the MOD EPOCH, and started to play.

I was not prepared for such a involving experience. The MOD is so different, just the mood of it is better. After a couple lives of running around, trying to find the best ways to survive, learning to make fires, cook food, and get shot in the head, it was my turn to at least get a gun. Up until that point, I had only seen fit to get a handgun, as I used it for hunting. I was tired of being hunted though.

My breaking point was not planned, I just wanted a gun for survival. I found a nice private hive, FleshTown, and made my mind up that this would be my home. Spawned, headed west, and found some sort of open base. Found a rifle….I was happy. This lasted only about an hour. After the server restart, I find myself no sooner getting spawned back in, that I was getting shot at. I ran, ran up some stairs in what looks like a half built construction site….three stories I think. I soon found the bandit, looking for me, prone, moving slow. I stood up on the roof, took my time, and let my Winchester blow the brains out of the back of His head. A fresh Bizon was my prize, and a military backpack to go with it.

From that point, I knew being the friendly survivor, hoping to find a friend would not be for me. I would make a camp, far, far away from anything, get supplies and hunt down all bandits, in return, I guess becoming somewhat of one myself.

My first destination….the NW Air Field. I knew from seeing most videos, that this is the place of many bandits, and bandits to be. This place I knew would provide me with my first kill. My first prize. Coming around to the Airfield was pretty easy, as the first guy, that ended up counting as a murder by the way, had a nice map on Him. I made my way north. Setting up, on the west tree line of the Airfield I waited. The server was full, this wouldn’t take long. Boy was I right….

Boom, bang…..Boom Boom….that was the whole exchange. I couldn’t see, but I heard the short lived encounter that two people had. I waited, stating at the hangars, and soon enough, I saw my first bandit, in the flesh….poke His head around the corner and look out across to the ATC tower. Before I could even steady my aim, I shot….I was off by about a foot at it hit the hangar…..He went prone….still….unaware that I could still see His just as good. This time, I went into a crouch, moved to the left into the bush a little more, held my breath, and issued one smooth left mouse click…..the report at the bottom right of the screen told me all I needed to know…..the debug menu confirmed it…..I was officially the hunter of the hunters now…..it felt good.

I sat back, and waited, probably a full 10 minutes, not moving anything but my head around to take a look…..I listened…slowly, I backed up to the fence, turned around, went prone and  crawled under. I was gone…..

Now….where to set up my FOB……..

Hopefully I have more to come to those who care. Thanks for reading.

You don't have to type it out like it's a war drama, you know.

So basically, you got shot at a few times, and decided to just straight up play as a bandit at the first opportunity?

A few times that life, yes. As I stated, I had been playing the MOD. Almost every life I have played, both in the MOD and SA, it has been the same outcome. My decision to be a Bandit Hunter and I guess in turn turning me into a Bandit did come from that, not a few pop shots.

Next time though, put more thought into your smart ass replies. Also, you do know what forum you are in right? Bandit Campfire
