Penalties for those who hack or use exploits in the true game release.

Recommended Posts

I understand the game is still under development but this topic needs to be talked about and worked on for development.   Hacking, exploiting, scripts.

What are we going to do about these people, who can potentially ruin countless hours and hours of play in 1 minute!  Hackers are game breakers, especially so in DayZ!  Much more so than in most other games.  In Counterstrike GO, one would simply just leave the server and join another.  Can't really do that in DayZ unless you really see it coming!

Hardware bans, IP bans, MAC address bans, we need to keep these people off this game.  I understand that hackers actually make the game companies a lot of money because they simply rebuy the game on another account and wreak havoc again.  We need to browse some creative ideas, like possibly when a hacker is caught, he will only be allowed to join certain servers for a year, servers we can avoid.  That seems like a feasible solution.  A timed solitary confinement with other offenders.  Anybody please post your ideas!

Also, let it be noted, if people are glitching and hacking in the Alpha, I welcome this! As long as your reporting the hacks and sending them to the developers for analysis!  If your not, then you will probably be banned in the future anyway!

Please, everybody, post your suggestions, and keep an open mind!    ^_^

if a hack gets caught they should get banned (like in the mod)

problem with this is hackers don't really care they will just buy a new version of the game and do it again

Full price for DayZ is going to be more than £20 (or your regional equivalent). If they are locked out from using it on Steam, the hackers will have to make a new account and buy a new game. Sooner or later, they're going to run out of money, and time will be wasted. It will probably heavily mitigate hacking, or end it altogether.

There is not a single game that exists that is, was, or ever will be unhackable. The creativity of some people is way out there. They will find a way around anything.

The key is to make it incredibly complicated to pull it off. That way, people who know how probably don't want to waste their talent on a game, and people who have no idea how that stuff works and just follow tutorials will not be able to go through with it. The only issue with that is that if they know how to do it, they probably know how to make something that does it for anyone at the push of a button.

Or, they just do what people have been doing with the mod; Stealing the CD keys (or accounts) of gullible people by promising them hacks. The community is it's own worst enemy in this aspect.

As long it's never available on torrents etc

That's true, but Steam game banning would certainly mitigate. We just have to hope that the hackers who are new to this game when it's fully released aren't stupid enough to "buy" them off someone.

I believe torrents are much more difficult to get/do on Steam only games. Correct me if I'm wrong. DayZ also requires a constant internet connection, so servers should be able to detect any hacks.

hacking on a steamgame should just ban the acc from steam, losing every game they ever bought.

Bohemia is on its last leg after the arma 3 catastrophe. If there are hacks in the final game, they won't be in business for long.

It's time to get professional, Bohemia.

We all have to admit, that this is probably the #2 gamebreaker on the game!  #1 is your character being glitched to death, pretty much just dying for a stupid reason like lag or something like that.

If I was Bohemia, I would start development on a new DayZ engine but continue work on this, for the future.

You do know the communities that sell these hacks also sell cheaper game codes right? I doubt there gonna pay full price.

what catastrophe? what happened? I stopped playing online after DayZ, figured I'd get back into it when DayZ dries up a bit.

IP's aren't static and hardware bans are bypassable. A steam ID ban is enough, cheaters can't steal CD keys like they did in A2 (which was the primary reason for such widespread cheating)

They can't steal CD keys like they did in the mod anymore. They can only steal whole Steam accounts now, which is hard.
