Very bad FPS

Recommended Posts

So I just started playing this mod but for some reason I'm getting incredibly bad fps regardless of what I do. I've tried changing my resolution and ingame settings, changing .cfg files, changed things in my nvidia control panel and nothing helps at all. No matter what I change I keep getting around 8-15 fps. It doesn't matter what server I play on either it's always the same. Any other game I run I get great fps so I don't know what the problem is. Any help would be very much appreciated.

My specs:

Intel Core i7 Cpu    950 @ 3.07GHz  3.06GHz

8.00 GB of RAM

Nvidia Geforce Gtx 570

Windows 7 pro

On the topic of being a very bad fps, I think it would be much better if they can make a preset controller setup similar to that of counter strike or battlefield. I know I can change the controls myself, but I would appreciate it greatly as would a lot of people I've talked 2. 4 now, this game is unplayable 4 me due to the clunky controls but other than that the game seems pretty fun and runs like a charm.

I seemed to have better fps than that with my old system which was very close to those specs.  Do you run the game with the -winxp launch parameter? (also the  That helps some. Other than that I'd say overclocking your processor would gain you some fps before the vid card bottle necked it.

I use Dayz Commander for starting up my game. From my computer specs I'd be hoping to be running this game at atleast 30 fps.

Might be your outdated GPU drivers? (Not using a nVidia card but this happens on some AMD GPUs)

How "bad" is your FPS? Can you specify? (city/woods/open fields)

I have the same problem. Do a clean installation of your GeForce driver. Just warning you, it's a temporary fix, so everytime you reboot your PC you will have to re-install the driver to get back to 40~100 FPS.

I thought I'd also mention that regardless what I do with the settings nothing gets better or worse, I can run the game with the highest resolution and everything maxed or the lowest settings with the same result. I have pretty bad internet connection so I was wondering if that'd have any correlation with my framerate. I've searched all over for a reason why it might not work. My drivers are up to date as well as windows.

Does it happen with regular ArmA II without the mod? I have a less powerful system and can maintain 22-25 fps with lots of trees on very high settings. Sounds like something else is going on here.

What kind of motherboard do you have? My old AMD motherboard couldn't deliver enough power to the CPU and it would throttle.

Also make sure to defragment your hard drive after installing DayZ. Although that would be more stuttering problems than low average FPS
