Looting empty Servers

Recommended Posts

Hi

I was wondering if I could just join an empty server and then loot there all the commonly high populated areas without the risk of getting shot by other players? After you get all the high quality stuff you need, you could log back on a full server and start pvp'ing ...

I would find this extremely lame.

It would be easily fixable when you make the quality of the loot conditional on the amount of players on the server.

1 Player on the server -> you find nothing but some food and other standard loot.

25 Players -> mediocre loot but no high end military rifles.

40-50 or more players -> best loot possible

I'm sorry if thats already the case ^^

But if not, what you think about that and does it bother you when players exploit the game in such a cowardly way?

no, besides they already have this somewhat in place.here is how it is, 1 player and you get all the normal chances at loot, 2 players and it increases it (doubles) and so on and so forth

Where did you hear that PFC William?

Loot spawns client side. Every time someone enters an area, a check is done and new loot may spawn if it has been long enough since the last spawn. Whether it is just me, or me and 9 other people, it really only spawns when the first person gets close. Then after about 20 minutes the timer should reset so that it can spawn again. Or you can empty all of the loot points from a building and it should respawn faster.

I haven't seen any sort of increase in good loot spawning when more people are on the server. I'm pretty sure that the mechanic doesn't exist the way you're describing it.

If there's ~3+ minutes between people getting into the loot area it can spawn a new set of loot on top of old loot.

thats why clans have really good gear, get everyone to go to a high yield place and increase their chances for even better loot. that is why there are percentages, each client has their own percentage so when both go to the same loot pile they both have, lets say a 0.11% chance meaning they have a 0.22 (if im wrong please explain as i absolutely suck at math)

You don't add the chance of getting it, if the loot double spawns it just does 11% twice. There does have to be an amount of time between the players reaching the spawns or it only spawns them once however.

I'd also like to know if difficulty does anything to it. That would certainly move me from recruit/regular to veteran/expert servers ^^

I was under the impression that it was them holding down an area and emptying the loot spots so that it respawns more quickly, which is a pretty well known farming technique.

No william.

Wether you have 20 or 1 player in the area, the chances of every item are the same.

Also, if they doubled, they would double for every item. So you would have a (hypothetical) 200% chance of items, but with same proportions as the original.

Where do you find servers with 1 person on it? In honesty I think that is a valid tactic. Imagine you were in a zombie apocalypse would you go to a hotspot during "rush hour" and risk being shot or come back later when other people sleep ?

I think for a lonewolf player it might be the only chance to avoid the clan players, TS groups and bandit groups.

It's the locked server with some people on them I find more disturbing.

There are plenty of servers that only have 10-15 people during night time. That's about the least you can reasonably expect.

It's kinda.. 'balanced'.

On >40 slot servers, there are always a couple of people at the popular areas. A lot of people realize this, and stay away from those areas. There will usually only be 1~3 people (4~10 in cherno/electro).

On servers with 10 or less players, everyone thinks "Hey, only 10 people. [insert popular area] has no people in it, time to loot!" and as such, there will still be at least one person in each of the popular areas.

You're always in danger, regardless of the player count. Servers with a low player count are also prime targets for:

- Server hoppers

- Bandits (they know people are coming for the popular areas).

Don't be surprised if there's 2 bandits with sniper rifles covering stary, topped off with random server hoppers able to spawn behind you at any time.
