The_Gunisher 10 Posted January 3, 2014 Hi, Just wanted to say good work on the game so far, shaping up well at the mo despite being bare bones. Just wanted to float something, not sure if it's possible but I think it would be good if it could. Tried running a search and couldn't see this raised elsewhere, but happy to be corrected. In the DayZ mods as soon as you fired your weapon Zombies instantly knew where you were and could zero you no matter how well you were hidden. This has always been an issue with the AI in the Arma games, but it kind of means that stealth and hiding (apart from the initial shot) are left essentiallly redundant. I think that unless Zombies are right next to you when you fire they should only start to move to the vicinity of the shot, not directly to the player. The player can keep shooting as long as zombies aren't near, but when they get close if you stop they shouldn't be able to find you, unless they happen to get a line of sight on you. You could argue that this would reduce the effect of Zombies and mean players in a sense have less to worry about in terms of KOS (something I'm not essentially against by the way). But I don't think it would, it would still mean that to extricate yourself from a position you'll be surrounded by Zombies unless you wait for a time. So in short it would not remove challenge, but simply modify it. Lastly I think it adds to the realism of the game, as soon as a player hears a shot they don't know where a player is. They may get an idea, but they don't instantly magically know so why should a Zombie? 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
