At the expense of servers and cheaters.

Recommended Posts

There was an idea how to make life difficult for cheats makers, as well as pirates.

Of course I'll climb in the affairs of others , but still.

The idea is to hide and distribute server files dayz dedicated server

That is, no one will be able to run your own server on the server machine and do not know what faylyf server uses .

Then of course the big drawback .

But there are also a big plus .

I do not know how to write cheats, but I can guess that they are tested on their servers , as well as considering the server files in search of vulnerabilities.

Well, the second advantage is that there will be pirate servers , because not from what they will do, but I do not know good or bad .

The idea is certainly not like for server admins who want to manage your own server and configure it as they wish.

Small decision : your own hosting server developers with ftp , etc., but some important files are hidden .

Correct me if I'm wrong .

Most hacks for Dayz don't need the server files really. They didn't make a new engine so people that have hacked the previous games using the same engine just need to try out modified versions of what they already have and see what works. They could maybe do checksum reports for the server files to see if they have been changed but even if they have, that's only allowing players to hack on that one server. This type of problem can only be solved by the devs seeing/hearing about hacks in the community and reacting to them by trying to plug the holes in the code. Some things they can't plug and it will probably be up to server admins to deal with.

In a game like this ESP hacks generally are made by hijacking the data coming from the server which wouldn't be affected by hiding the files. They created a small bubble of information around each player that tells the client about all of the items and people within a certain distance from them. If a player can hijack that data with another program reading the data stream they can translate it into some kind of graphical overlay that shows them where all these things are. These types of hacks have been around since multiplayer games have existed and scanning for programs that can read that data stream is about the only way to combat them other than having players report them or an admin catching them in the act. That's why private hives became so popular in the mod. Hackers might show up but they were dealt with right there and their damage was minimized.

In the end, though, most hacks come down to having a reporting system in place and having people that can go over these and ban people. This takes a lot of time and effort so most game companies don't bother with the vast majority of hackers and it almost always falls on the individual server admins to deal with. I used to have a couple Counter Strike servers and was part of a kind of conspiracy behind the scenes. We never let people know this at the time, but we had a network of close to fifty servers that shared videos/.dem files of the people we banned and would ban those players across all of these servers. It was crazy how many people I had in my servers' ban lists from that large a sample size.
