antoha1 4 Posted January 3, 2014 I am a new player to DayZ however extensive experience with ArmA series made it very easy to get in to the game, figure out game mechanics and tactics. The tactical aspect of ArmA also made it easier to survive player encounters. However since many new players never played ArmA or DayZ mod I feel like this video from one of the ArmA's community leaders could teach newcomers a thing or two.
XLuckyZeroX 5 Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) Cool video . It's always nice to have some combat advice . I recommend you to see some '' How to contact with other survivors '' videos too , unless you want to have the KOS Mentality . antoha1 4 Posted January 3, 2014 Except is DayZ, not ArmA.I know it uses the same Engine, basically the same, but its a whole different game. I know its DayZ but the game mechanics are the same, I guarantee if you pick up ArmA 2 or 3 you will feel at home within 30 minutes. Cool video . It's always nice to have some combat advice . I recommend you to see some '' How to contact with other survivors '' videos too , unless you want to have the KOS Mentality .This will work for any play stile, if you are survivor you don't want be seen unless you choose to and If you want to KOS this will help you assess the threat level your target presents. terminal_boy 860 Posted January 3, 2014 How to survive other players:1. Don't be seen.2. If necessary, engage from concealment at long range. Take 2 shots max and displace to a new concealed location and observe. Rinse and repeat as required.3. Did I mention not being seen?
hells high 676 Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) Combat mechanics are essentially the same in the engine guys, and the things Dslyecxi covers are fairly universal: the biggest in DayZ's case being situational awareness. Most people die because they weren't fully paying attention and got caught off guard. Honestly for most of the positioning and movement topics he talks about you could replace the footage with DayZ and it would make perfect sense. terminal_boy 860 Posted January 3, 2014 Maintaining 360 degree SA not withstanding, fire team and squad level tactics are great if you're mobbed up. Alone, not so much.
