Connection problem

I stand in front of a MAJOR problem here: Me and my gf have router and 2 copies of a game, when we try to connect to the same server, one of us looses connection to the server, which makes it useless to have 2 copies of a game. Is there a way to fix it on my end or is it problem of the game?
