blurhitz 244 Posted January 3, 2014 I was playing and my internet died a little close to NWAF, so I wasn't able to disconnect at a safe place. When I logged back, when I still had the "Wait for host" screen, bang, someone shot me. What the fuck? There should be a spawn timer or something like that. This kind of issue is the one they should fix first, I know it's alpha and all but it's frustrating to constantly die because of stupid reasons. So the suggestion is: add a 5 ~ 10 sec immortal timer that you can't shoot or get shot at when you log in...
Jaybopper 49 Posted January 3, 2014 That's a pain in the balls alright..I dunno if this is something we should be worrying about though.. I mean if you had immortal timer what then? They would have just camped you until it ended, then shot you.. If it lasted too long then you'd have an unfair advantage over them. To put it harshly; a problem with your internet isn't a problem with the game.. Just sucks and is unfortunate..
sonicrainbrony 136 Posted January 3, 2014 Fix what? The constant issues with the server-client connection in the Standalone, or the only thing that allows you to eliminate server hoppers and ghosters before it's too late?

Yeah but at least I would be able to see them before getting shot at "Wait for host" :(This way I would have a chance to defend myself, because they shot me while I was blind. And I don't think I would have an advantage because in the timer, as I said in the post, I wouldn't be able to shoot too. The fact that my internet died wouldn't change too much anyway. Imagine that I didn't die, I just logged out of the game, then logged back after a few hours. I would've gotten killed in the "Wait for host" screen too... =/
heyguy_72 10 Posted January 3, 2014 So, by my mind, they should make something to your character only appears when the player has already loaded, then all would be balanced...

Merrick362 (DayZ) 263 Posted January 3, 2014 That's not a terrible idea. Maybe 3 seconds. You can't shoot or be shot, but you can move to cover. But that should be implemented after the server hopping fix is implemented. People that spawn inside barracks with me get killed immediately.

Does rocket already have a confirmed solution for server hopping issues?
derpdiggler 69 Posted January 3, 2014 There is already a solution in place for this problem. The game provided you a free teleport to the spawn point, and even cleared out your inventory. It's working as intended. Like others have said, your suggestion is a server hopper's wet dream.

Ya we should do this. This exact thing happened just the other night to me but in a whole different way..... Two guys jump a friend kill him and the go to loot, I kill one while hes looting then bam other one vanishes like a fart in the wind..... so I move fast to set up 100 meters away from where I killed his buddy 2 mins later I see the guy appear 50 yards behind where I was last, So I pull out my scoped Mosin and blow his goddam head off his shoulders while hes loading in, ghosting people exploiting so often is why this is a terrible idea. babybasher 50 Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) Nah, not an immortal timer. Could be SLIGHTLY abused, but more so it just doesn't feel right... Simply a black screen with a 'READY' button would be better. This pops up once your client is connected, ready to go. You don't appear in game until you press this. To avoid any possible exploits, like players somehow managing to remove black screen, see any players around them before they press the button, the following could happen. Player is loaded into the game in a different position in the world, maybe a special pitch black room under the map. So even if they somehow be naughty, they don't see anything anyway. They can then be teleported to where they were ment to be on pressing the button. Of course this would all look seemless to the player, etc. Edited January 3, 2014 by babybasher
