My Experience With These SPawns

1. Spawn

2. Walk around for 10 minutes

3. Die

 

Repeat steps 1-3 about five times. These new spawns aren't that great...

One may be walking in the wrong direction. Also try running.

 

Every spawn since the new patch has a town (or city) 10 mins away from it.. if not closer. A good rule of thumb I find, especially if your new to DayZ, is wherever you spawn (except for on that silly island in which case go onto the mainland first) have the coast to your right side.. and keep running until you see buildings.
