WrecklessMEDIC 129 Posted January 2, 2014 First off I'd just like to say how much I'm enjoying the alpha.The only pet peeve I have right now is not being able to filter which servers are Day or Night in regards to in-game time. Is this something that's being worked on or have I just missed finding the proper filter on the server screen? Mutonizer 78 Posted January 2, 2014 "Usually", night and day cycles are tuned with real life time-zones so if it's night time in Europe, All European servers will be night time. That said, it seems that server managers can disable that and that it's also affected (maybe side-effect) by the regular restarts being done on a lot of servers because there is no re-spawning currently. Personally, I have yet to find a server that actually handles time properly and they all seem to be perma day time, which is a bit of a shame... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Don't get me wrong running face first into trees in the middle of the night without any light is awesome too. If that makes me a "carebear" that's fine but I'd still like a filter if it's possible. If that makes me a "carebear" that's fine but I'd still like a filter if it's possible. Well, as has been pointed out the day/night cycles are supposed to be based on the local time of the server. That said, it's possible for server operators to adjust the day/night cycle themselves and/or periodically restart the server to avoid the night cycle. Unless the server operator advertises that in the server name, I don't believe that this is information provided through the server details and therefor not filterable/searchable. There are also headlamps and weapon flashlights, which are pretty useful. It's to each his own of course, but I REALLY recommend "setting the mood" at home (turning off lights, putting your headset on and cranking up the volume a bit) then play DayZ at night with proper night settings, only using your flashlight. Not being able to see damn thing in front of you? Unless you use the flashlight that everyone can see from miles around through building walls? Is the fun you are talking about? KoishA 0 Posted January 3, 2014 I was thinking exactly the same.I'd like to enjoy the game by daylight for now since I'm starting the game, but that means I gotta play BEFORE 7PM otherwise its night on almost every EU servers...Since I'm working 5 days a week, i can only enjoy daylight games on weekends, which is not enough to satisfy my needs !I think night time gameplay is more like an hardcore mode i'll enjoy later, after being familiarized with the gameplay and stuff.
