Audio item suggestions (some PsyOps)

TL;DR: please add boomboxes, cassettes, megaphones, and whistles

 

The first time I watched this video of a robbery gone wrong I thought the assailants started basting rap over direct-chat and it continued to play when they died. (Actually it's the victim's companion.) But my first thought was that it added a psychological level of intimidation. The kind of crazy that would likely happen (look up "Blood Diamond Rebels attack" on youtube) and would fit right in with the DayZ-crazy.

 

These items would have a much larger audio range than direct chat.

 

Boombox

Requires multiple batteries and a cassette to play music. Could be carried in the riffle slot on the shoulder. It can also be placed in the ground and left on just like flashlights and lanterns which could lure or repel players. Remains playing after player death.

 

Cassette

Various songs could be found around Chernarus and played in a Boombox or Vehicle. Audio quality (including lo-fi wobbles etc) could be based on item condition. Bohemia could secure the rights to some Russian, Ukrainian, soviet, songs to paint the scene and use some public domain stuff.

 

Megaphones

Ideal for crowd control. Requires batteries. Increases the range of direct chat when in hands and held up. Added feedback and distortion effects.

 

Whistles (sports & emergency)

Found in residential, supermarkets, and schools. Audible from a very long range. Useful for executing an ambush or attracting attention. Would be nice if a blow on the whistle was instant on assigned key press so that codes could be used easy. (Three blasts for white-walkers)

I like the idea. Maybe you also could hook up your walkie-talkie to the boombox, to lure/scare players in using your voice.

I would also love the megafone, all that terror. I'm imagining looting a military base or similar when you suddenly hear "Your all going to die, there is no escape" over a megafone.

Talkie-Walkie definitly is a good idea. It will would create kinds of groups with a good way to be coordinate without beeing heard by other players around them (without TS3 or Mumble, etc).

Megaphones

 

I rly like the idea of screaming  to the other survivors with megaphone.

Siren sound should included imo.

Boombox for the win. Imagine being in a building and hearing someone yell "YOU IN THE BUILDING, WE HAVE YOU SURROUNDED." followed by this booming through the silence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BulFwGSi8bc

I think I would utterly panic.

That would actually be a great idea, you can use it to lure survivors to their doom, or survivors to come together to a safe destination, for music it would be interesting if it stayed true to the immersion of the game. Also to lure groups of zombies too or from.
