How do I tell if I have the regular Day Z or the Day Z Mod? ( I know noob question)

So I bought Day Z on steam for $30 downloaded it and started playing it, is it regular or the mod? Reason for this is because there are two forums one for Day Z and one for the mod. Another question is whats the different between the two?

The actual DayZ mod is free but you have to have Arma 2 Combined Operations to play it. The DayZ you bought on steam is the Standalone game, not the mod.

Okay thanks, I just bought Arma 2: Combined Operations and its downloading, Day Z Mod here i come.

As Jonny45 said, if you brought the game on steam, it was Dayz (standalone)

 

"Dayz Mod" Is a Modification for ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead, It was The original Dayz and is what lead to the creation of Dayz (standalone) 

They are quite different in many aspects, both have their Pro's and Con's

I think you have the Standalone as you bought it from Steam. The mod is free, but you can download it from Steam.
