DefoneESP 17 Posted December 31, 2013 server hopping will be addressed later in development people are stressing too much on current features, this is not a GAME yet, this is alpha, by playing this you are essentially testing current features, this is in no way an example of how the game will be at launch, you should be focusing more on things like invisible walls, items disappearing, implementing of health system, loot spawns in spots that are inaccessible (like on top of some cabinets or a piano), zombie AI pathing and sight/hearing radius, etc. too many posts about this flooding the forums, use the search function PLEASE
kruger287 13 Posted January 1, 2014 Why do servers have to be hived if they aren't then bam no hoppingalso before anyone says well it would be harder to update emjust take the game down for a bit when a patch comes out to update all servers
wearelegion (DayZ) 1 Posted January 1, 2014 I'd honestly like to just see characters bound to servers. Pick one and that's where its stays. Or perhaps just Lock a character to a server for 30 mins or something once a shot is fired or loot is taken.
tingkagol 9 Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) I'd honestly like to just see characters bound to servers. Pick one and that's where its stays. If a server gets full, you can't play. You can start a new character in a new server, but once that server also gets full, you can go back to your original server and.... forget what your original character was supposed to be doing. I don't like it. I have no problem with this if a server can accommodate thousands of players at a time (like your standard mmo servers). However. It obviously won't work for a game like DayZ. You would have to increase the land area of a map like Chernarus to maintain rare encounters with other players - thereby preserving what DayZ is for famous for - a bleak post-apocalyptic world (instead of a densely populated world). MystoganXIX 78 Posted January 1, 2014 If this system was implemented, It will give birth to a new form of griefing. The loot killers...So some jerk who already got his loot can contantly relog in say... Balota. He will make everything despawn and probably get kills as naked people wander in and get frustrated when they can't even find a rotten fruit or a shirt. Why not give dean and his team out opinion on it and try come up with ways to stop it. I see a lot of people like yourself trolling the forums and on every thread about something somone finds wronge in the game there is a troll saying that there are more important things for them to fix first. In your opinion thoes things need fixing first in this guy opinion he thinks this need addressing first, it doesn't make your opinion wrong and his right or vis versa it is a opinion and that is the beautie of a opinion. So I ask you to stop trolling PLEASE!!!! bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted January 1, 2014 If you don't like the hive system. Wait for private servers. Don't play an alpha of a game that's trying to do something new & bitch about issues with the new systems in development. It's not in final release, give them a chance to work out these problems before throwing out the whole concept of a main hive. They did exactly what this thread describes in the MOD and I don't think it was very effective. It can easily be abused to accomplish the hopping with a little bit of extra effort. I would rather see them enact some secret system where your name gets triggered and they investigate and punish severely any offenders. Pay some guy full time to watch people server hop and issue temporary bans. After a month, it wouldn't be a full time job anymore. People do this because there's no consequence. Making automated systems that people can just work around is no solution.
tommes 331 Posted January 1, 2014 Loot should spawn absolutely random. Every other system is somewhat predictable and therefore exploitable.
Mumaz 0 Posted January 1, 2014 Maybe a feature allowing 1 server switch for hour or day. Or forcing new location spawn when relogging on different servers. I really think all those timers can affect server performance, if so... i would suggest an off game feature. .. one of those things the guy access his account on the browser and activate something on his account so he can change servers... something like that. MystoganXIX 78 Posted January 1, 2014 Its somewhat baffling as to why someone would play on any of those private servers which require VIP in order to be completely unrestricted in item use, or on any server in which VIP players have any type of advantage over non-VIP.I mean... this is not a free game. Why would you buy this game, then play on someone's private server and pay them in order to fully play a game that you just bought?

Making automated systems that people can just work around is no solution.Let me explain something to you, a game that is in alpha get alpha tester to play and find problems and relay them problems back to the development team. By releasing this game in alpha everyone that bought the game has become a alpha tester. So this gut isn't moaning about the game he is simply relaying a fault he found and at the same time giving then a option on how to fix it.So I say the same to you as I did the last troll.Stop tolling thread PLEAS!!!!
