Possible Character Reset Fix

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I think I've found a character reset fix. This works most of the time with me, that's why I put "possible" in the title.

 

PLEASE NOTE: If your character has been reset already, this will be no help to you. This fix is for use in the future when your character gets reset.

 

Anyway, to the fix.

 

If you spawn on the shore with no gear or spawn in with the "You Are Dead" screen, you must quickly press ESC then ALT-F4. Do not do anything with the player, do not walk forward, do not look around, just press ESC to open the pause menu, then ALT-F4 out the game.

Then, open up DayZ again straight after. You will have to join a server hosted by a DIFFERENT website (e.g If you we're in a server hosted by GameServers.com, you must join a server hosted by a different website, it cannot be hosted by GameServers.com.)

When you join, you should spawn in with all your gear in the place you were in before your character was reset. If not, then sorry but there in no hope and your character has been lost forever.

 

A few things to point out while doing this.

• You must press ESC and ALT-F4 INSTANTLY, you cannot wait like a few seconds. As soon as you spawn in you must do it.
• This fix works with me, I have not tested it with anyone else so don't rage at me when it doesn't work.

More like a work around lol. Looking through the bug reports this seems to be one of the most complained about topics hopefully they'll address it soon.
