kris669 1 Posted December 30, 2013 Evening, I have been watching DayZ being played on Youtube for over a year now and have decided to go and buy it. However the game runs not so well on my PC albeit my procresserer is an AMD A10 6700 Quad with 6GB DDR3 Memory. I can run the game no problem but the graphics have to be set a low. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GT620 graphics card and wondering if I upgrade this will this vastly improve my gaming experience? Advice would be greatly appreciated. dayzhopeful 30 Posted December 30, 2013 I would say you are just as dangerous on low settings as your are on high settings but if you want a better visual experience then upgrading would obviously help that. I play on low as well just to get a smoother game but i dont think this game has been fully optimized yet.
(TMW) Merino 507 Posted December 30, 2013 A GT620? Mmmm... you might want to take a look at this: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GT+620 I think we found the culprit :)
sonicrainbrony 136 Posted December 30, 2013 It's the graphics card, I'd say get something like the Radeon 270 or GTX
blfonsworth 32 Posted December 30, 2013 I have a 620.. it makes a nice paperweight. It came in the computer I have now. I used it for a while, hated it and decided to pull it out and put a 560 in it that I had in my old PC.. The 620 is not meant for gaming or really anything other than basic visuals and word processing.

kris669 1 Posted December 30, 2013 Thanks for the replies, nice to see a friendly and helpful forum. Hmmmm from what people are saying looks like a new graphics card is required. I take it with the remaining spec of my PC will suffice? I'll admit I'm totally new to gaming on pc's and I bought this one with the intention of doing office work first off, gaming second. marsmars 155 Posted December 30, 2013 A good graphics card should do the trick but make sure your power unit can support it
aodqw97 78 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) A good graphics card should do the trickbut make sure your power unit can support itAbsolutely, that bit is just as important. See the manufacturers recommended PSU I'd say around 650w is going to be your minimum target.Obviously you'll get lots of help here too if you need it. aodqw97 78 Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) Here ya go Kris, a selection from Scan who I use a lot.May I suggest you need to be paying in the region of £50 plus for a quality product.I've filtered the list for you from 500w upwards and internal fit which I assume yours is.In PSU's you really do get what you pay for. The downside of a cheap one are unstable voltages and failures.Hope it helps. If your'e unsure ask before you buy and someone will help you out.http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-hardware/all/power-supplies/309/120/117 Edited December 31, 2013 by aodqw97

At this stage I'm budgeting £50 for a PSU and £120-£150 for the graphics card, probably a NVIDIA GTX of sorts. This is the current spec of my computer, a Acer TC-105AMD A10 6700 quad core3.7hz1TB hard drive6GB DDR3 MemoryI'm hoping this is suffice?
deebz1234 243 Posted December 31, 2013 overclock that to 4.25 ghz and you will see a real diffy...im running a gtx 570 and get the same fps as youtubers with gtx 680s and such.remembering too that its not optimized as great as it could be yet.So were all suffering. but higher CPU clock speed is the most effective
aodqw97 78 Posted December 31, 2013 I don't think you'll find the guy is up to that..
deebz1234 243 Posted December 31, 2013 ya maybe not, but for $50 you can get an all in one cooler and attach it to the cpu. case temps are lower, less clutter and cpu temps are insanely low. simple overclock a few notches and your done...and you would gain an easy 10fps if not more. That said its a vague concept to me so I'll do some research on it.
deebz1234 243 Posted December 31, 2013 google your motherboard + overclock you will see other users successfull settings to put it up to 4.25+ my 2.8 ghz went easily to 4.25, your 3.7 may easily go to 4.5 ghz and blow dayz up well worth it for all games...
