Joining as Group - How it can lead to a better game

Recommended Posts

First off I understand the concept of spawning into a world, alone, w/o anything and working your way around with limited supplies. I dig it....I really do.

The game is great and I love it but friends are really what make the exp better in any game really.

Playing games with friends/joining as group takes the next step....There are a few reasons why not implementing join as group is a bad idea. I have at least 2 friends that wont buy the game just b/c of being spolied gamers that can spawn with their friends....first world problems.....I hate to compare Dayz to other games but for grouping I think we must think a little harder about it.

Almost all fps/rpg multiplayer games can join as group....its an awesome feature....it just is and brings real life friends, guilds and gamer buddies together in faster manner.

I know you can meet up (using an online map and ventrilo/teamspeak) and getting some good spawn locations near to each other. So why not just join as group....Im not saying change the item spawn rate or anything close....really it might make it more difficult to share the limited supplies in the beginning anyway or a buddy making to much noise. Spending 45 mintues (been there done that many times) seems like a waste of game time running along the coast for example. (yes die and spawn until a closer spawn hits.....kinda lame huh?)

I have heard this is against what the game is about.....but i would think in a world apoc groups would be essential to living anyway.

Grouping I think would help sales long term. ie. more money to make the game better. There are gamers who dont have the hours to run around just to find a buddy. Yes I understand the arguement of "Then u should play the game loserz"   I know the solo players would hate this but Iong term I would like to see the game cater to the masses a little bit...Not saying make the game any easier....just easier to group up for a little bit of instant gratification for playing with friends.

The hardcore sim guys have some good reasons not to.....but I truly think they are a minority (squeaky wheels) get the attention but I think for the game and the community these voices should be heard and ignored.

Hell....make it a server option. Join as Group  On/Off  ( i would bet good money the grouping servers would fill 3 times as fast.

Think about it.

Please tell me the negatives of joining as group....I must be blind as I dont see any logical reasoning not to implement.  8-}

**my skin is starting to get itchy....must take that hit of the Dayz goodness   :-) **

I don't really see the need for a zombie survival game to have a group system?
Would real life have a group system? No, you would have to do it your self.

Look at how the game that shall not be named did the group system...it was terrible.

So why should dayz have it

Yeah, but would it tell you where they are? OH THERE'S STEVE I SEE HIM ON THE MAP IN KAMENKA. Yes people travel in groups, but there has to be coordination. The game shouldn't tell you where your friends are. That's part of the excitement of dayz, meeting your friends.

Groups are terrible and standalone should stray FAR away from the system.

I think the work that goes into assembling all of your buddies in the same place before moving out together is an important part of the DayZ experience and should not be watered down. Simple as that.

Never said to see player on map/radar...just said join as group. Really u should not have a clue where ur buddy is but maps posted online kills that angle.

Why is it a bad idea.
