Do I NEED to get supplies before I literally go to sleep???

I saw a guy post this on the forum and was wondering if there was any validity to it ?

"Your next step is to survive, Collect more food, water, ammo, and gear so you can survive the nights (Logging out, then logging back in without food/water is a death sentence.)"

Does he/she mean that if your hunger and water levels are minimal before you log out at night, that in the morning/noon your character will be near-death or dead?

it's from an old patch. Water and food used to continue to decrease when you were logged off. They patched that out a little while back

Oh god, thank you lol. I just looted a VSS with 100 + rounds and was about to call it quits for today ( don't have watercanteen and hunting knife. )

As of a recent update, your hunger and thirst only decrease when you are in-game and remain the same when disconnected.
