Darkki (DayZ) 0 Posted May 12, 2012 Currently most people on server are located in 2 cities, NW airfield or travelling between them, making game boring after discovering those places and realizing it’s not worth going anywhere else because it’s not worth spending time travelling to ghost towns. Currently most vehicles are clans/admins toys and since vehicles are so rare that they are not used very often to avoid losing them.Making vehicles less rare and increasing gas consumption would make people spread out more making inland more dangerous. Also it would create new hot zones around gas stations, roads and most supermarkets.Best way would be making ATVs/motorcycles very common so even solo players can use them without too much effort and since they have no trunk it wouldn’t make game too easy. Making cars slightly more common but would still require small group to repair. Helicopters are good as they are now. These changes would make travelling more interesting for experienced players when threat can appear out of nowhere very fast. Also helicopters would be less op because landing places could be tracked easier and it would create new challenges to clans using them.
Lady Kyrah 1110 Posted May 12, 2012 That's the point, them being clan toys, they require so muich gear to repair/refuel, the very concept of getting a vehicle in working order is a group reward.Admion toys? i dunno, so far rocket is being pretty severe with admins that abuse their powers for personal gain and threatened a couple of them of kicking them out of the project. What i'd like to see is ONE plane, maybe a non military one, because unlike helicopters, those can only take off or land at about 3 places that i know, it would create some crazy tension everytime it's in the air.For common transportation, i think bikes (not motorbikes) should be less rare, they are fairly fragile, without storage and only give you the advantage of a speed boost and fatigue reduction. Jimmy James 18 Posted May 12, 2012 I think more vehicles would be pretty cool, particularly if gas became extremely valuable. If anyone has played Sahrani/Chernarus life you'll note how easy it is to get killed/have the vehicle disabled when dealing with civilian vehicles. They'd make the map seem a little smaller, and make road traps/blockades interesting (particularly if offroad vehicles were less common). There shouldn't be too many around at once, but far more than there are on the road now. Alex (DayZ) 8 Posted May 12, 2012 I would love to see the introduction of more civilian orientated vehicles, however they should still be nearly as rare as the military ones. The civilian vehicles should be squisher, louder and drain fuel much faster than a militarized vehicle.

You just need a somewhat level long enough patch of ground. Otherwise Warfare missions would get pretty boring with the air factory only at one of three places :)
inacio 4 Posted May 12, 2012 In my opinion the only vehicle that should be seen more often is the bike (regular bike).
GK_Buba 0 Posted May 12, 2012 Not that I mind running around, but i guess a bike would be okay. But only if you need to repair it like all the other vehicles, just with less scrap metal.
Leechman 8 Posted May 12, 2012 Disagree. There's nothing stopping you from investigating these other locations as the game currently is. You don't need to increase the prevalence of an extremely useful gameplay tool to explore them.Vehicles are not "clan toys'. I have repaired both cars and helicopters on my own. After realizing that most of the towns are just couple buildings with bad loot and no risk involved there's no point exploring world when it takes so much time.Vehicles are not "clan toys'. I have repaired both cars and helicopters on my own.At least server that I play on clan with 2 helicopters scout map 24/7 for new vehicles and will destroy/steal all vehicles that aren’t owned by them (This happened to both of my cars that I repaired), making them not worth time or just movable tents that aren’t used often.EDIT: Repairing vehicle for the first time is fun and challenging but after spending that time you realize that you can't use your vehicle properly becouse its too valuable to take risk of losing it. Felix (DayZ) 21 Posted May 12, 2012 True, once the helicopters are up, cleaning out the rest of the vehicles becomes incredibly easier.

Also gas stations and deer stands are currently nicely spread acros map so people atleast have to go across villages that are far away from current hot zones and are more likely to loot them. Leechman 8 Posted May 12, 2012 1. You only need a gas station if you have a vehicle. Having to travel to them cannot be a reason for wanting more vehicles.2. A large number of deer stands are off road and in not-easily-accessible-by-helicopter areas. Roads also aren't always the most efficient methods of travelling from one stand to another.3. You want more vehicles, so you can use those vehicles to go find other vehicles.I'm sorry, I'm trying to see method in your arguments but it's not coming to me. Your desired uses for vehicles seem to require you having a vehicle in the first place. :/

It would still require faster travelling to create real threat to desolate areas because currently people are avoiding roads and travel safely in forests. orbital 10 Posted May 12, 2012 I seen no problem with the current vehicle spawns to be honest (as long it doesn't inflate).More fuel consumption? No thanks, have you tried visiting the gas station with a noisy vehicle? Not something I want to do for every 2km I've driven. And then get a feel how many litres a helicopter consume...Vehicles require team effort and is a reward of just that! Working perfectly fine as it is. Also it wouldn't make operating range shorter for those who have spent more effort on collecting jerrys.
tearran 2 Posted May 12, 2012 I don't mind if there are a lot of cars, In an apocalypse situation, there would probably be more drive-able cars then people. In the US alone there's something like 1 car for every 1.3 people.
