Using Items with one hand

PREFACE: I know it's alpha.

 

I find it rather silly that my character uses two hands for everything.

 

I hope they do something about it. I would like to be able to use things like a knife and shield or something. If they put riot shields in the game it would add a huge amount of gameplay to squad tactics.

 

I also would like to have my compass and flashlight out at the same time! It would be nice to use them both as either item should be easily carried in either hand.

Dean already mentioned that he would like to do this, but it requires serious work. I wouldn't expect it any time soon.

Equip your compass and then look at your inventory screen. In the "hands" pane, the compass model changes dynamically to show which direction you are facing. This also works well to use the compass while running and in third person.

I'm glad to hear that he's thought about it. I haven't really played arma other than to use Dayz so I don't know much about the engine. It seems like it's pretty weak in some core areas because it's built for military only.
