Day 1. My experience.

I remember playing this game when it came out on arma 2. months passed and I look on steam and see it. I instantly remembered all the fun times I had with friends, stockpile of cars, guns and food deep in the forest. 

 

So I bought DayZ:SA and I'm loving it so far. 

 

Im here to tell you about my first hours of playing DayZ.

 

Everything started out great, I was finding backpacks, food, water, an FNX 45 w/o mag(sadly) which put me on a bigger adventure to find a magazine for the pistol. One thing i remember for the mod was that airfields were loaded with guns and supplies. So i make my way to one, and to make it interesting i didn't have a map, only a compass and my memory of the village names.

 

So i'm headed to an airfield and picking up supplies in nearby villages, I finally remember one of the towns and quickly head North to the airstrip with my compass in hand. I get to the airfield and loot the 3 first buildings i go into. Good so far, no one here, even better.

 

So i head to the radio tower, as im walking into the door i hear the reloading of a gun. I stop, turn on my mic "heeelllllloooo?"  A man with a gas mask and an M4 corner peeks me from under the bottom stairs. "friendly?" he said. I quickly replied with a yes and told him not to fear my fire extinguisher. a small chuckle followed by him telling me there are some things upstairs but not much. 

 

I check upstairs nothing i didn't already have, rats. I come back downstairs and i hear gunshots and i told him i didn't find anything and i was just going to leave. He told me it wasn't him shooting. So I stick it out with this guy. Finally see the guy in the woods shooting. I guess he ran out of ammo b/c he just disappeared(serverhop). 

 

So as i'm zoomed in on 3rd person staring into the woods, I hear something odd. By the way, i'm a huge sound whore. What I heard was the guy i was with shuffling around, normal...he was trying to see the guy shooting. Funny thing is i watched him stop moving around, but the footsteps continued. i zoom out, and right when i did i see another man come from the top to the bottom with a wolf payday2 mask on. Looks straight at my goofy lookin' ass, yellow bandanna, purple shirt, green jeans, pink backpack, and a fire extinguisher. 

 

Looks at me(probably laughed) shot me twice.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome but the only real problem is people camping in places like Balota, NWAF, NEAF and just hopping from server to server to gank people from behind.

 

This should be fixed at some point though, because Rocket has previously said the issue of combat logging would be addressed with cooldowns/logout timers.

I lasted around 5 minutes in my first game. The settings were all wrong and the lag was terrible... I was attacked and unconscious before the figure even rendered properly...
