Server wide map markers?

Ok so I was looking at my map and noticed there were map markers on the map. Some said here with an x and others had camps marked on it...

I have never seen this before and am concerned because our camp has an x marked on it saying here now. Everyone in my group can see those markers on there map now and none of us has seen it before..

Anyone can explain to me what these are how they work and if they are legitly in the game?

You need to move your camp bro. It's a bug with ArmA; map markers are shared in the same group, and since we're all in blufor by ArmA's mind, we're all in the same group hence magic map markers.

Next time, what you do is you get your map, you set a waypoint (Shift+Click) where your location is, take a screen shot of it, and upload it for your mates and let them use it to set their own way-points.

Also you can triangulate your position with the waypoint system, small tip.

Thanks for the info. I rarely ever check the in game map and I look and see a ton of waypoints people have put down lol. Exploring time.

While this is an unfortunate story, I cannot wait for the day when maps hold their markers individually. Imagine 'finding' a corpse with a map, big black X marks the spot for the guys camp grounds!

LOL i noticed that when you note on the map, who ever has a map on the server can also see it. so its easy to bait the greedy mofos by putting a note on a map saying "camp with lots of guns and stuff" and see how many go for it and get shot by a sniper

Yea, this is why you never mark your camp on the map... lol
