Damage zombies? Newb question.

Hello everyone,

 

I am quite new to DayZ and I got a question. I just cant seem to kill zombies without them first causing me to bleed and then I die cause I cant find a medkit to save my life. I also noticed that when I feel i hit the zombie, it turns out I didnt. When they get close to me - and I try to damage them - the hit-marker just seem so random. One time you hit, the other time you miss completely. And the animation is so slow that you cant move away quickly enough after hitting them to avoid them hitting you (not all the time but quite often, atleast for me). It is not like in other games where you know that if he comes close to you, you know  beforehand u will hit him, and of course this is in Alpha stage so you cant really compare, so thats why I wanna know, is it meant to be this way, or will there be improvement when it comes to hitting/damaging the zombies - the accuracy thereof etc.

Don't use your fists, if that's what you are doing. Use a 'splitting axe', 'fire axe' or crowbar, one hit kills.

 

Also, don't pay attention to your crosshair dot. It is useless for melee weapons, wherever you swing the weapon is where you will hit. You need to time your strikes properly too. As the zombie gets closer, swing and you should smack him down in the first hit.

Ok well for starters you can take off your shirt and tear it into rags. (use to stop the bleeding)

 

As for zombies i would recommend you avoid them until you get some sort of melee weapon (Axe/crowbar etc)

 

Personally when i fight zeds i run circles around them while i swing, It seems to confuse them.

Thanks guys, I didnt know about the t-shirt & rag thing. And most of the time I been using a bat or my fists.
