Why do people trust so easily in this game

Recommended Posts

You can die at one turn of your back to someone, the only reason to ever tolerate someone in proximity to you is if they have absolutely no weapon whatsoever. People go to big lengths to gain and betray your trust because it's worth it in this game. It's worth every chance you get to backstab anyone but your closest friends because you'll never know when they're going to do the same to you.

There's no reason to trust people in this game, so why do you?

People don't trust easily in this game, not sure why you think otherwise.

Some people actually try to co-operate, because it can be fun, but them getting shot in the back doesn't necessarily mean they've been outsmarted or anything.

because cooperating in an online game is more fun than playing alone and avoiding people in an online game.

[/quote']Question: Do you feel this type of game play is GOOD or BAD for the game?

Do you enjoy this type of game play more? Or do you prefer a game where being friendly is at a minimum equal to being pure PKer?

I think we all know that right now, being a murderer and PKer is basically twice as beneficial as being a friendly player. Let me see... I think I can count the number of reasons to be friendly in the entire game on one hand:

- Blood transfusion

- Strength in numbers (can also be done by PKers)

- Kit variety makes for better strength per individual (sniper for long range, rifles, medic, etc..)

And there are almost no disadvantages to being a PKer, and there are plenty for being a friendly player. :|

I don't gain any advantage from killing other players. Beans? Big deal I could have a pack full of them in a half hour. Memories of good times spent with other human beings surviving the apocalypse? Yeah they're a bit more difficulty to come across.

One of the things that drew me to DayZ was the idea that there were no teams or groups, you had to work with whoever you ran into. I try to play as if it was happening for real. I could never murder someone for no reason in real life, I'm not going to do it in this game.

I don't like that I can never trust anyone beyond some guy just spawning, and I don't trust them too far even because they might be part of a bigger group that might take out my group. I prefer to always play with my team, because at the least they can try to kill the guy who killed me and give us a sense of security in terms of being able to recoup losses even if one of us dies. While I DO want more players to cooperate with I simply can't trust anyone other than someone I know from outside of the game. The only time I ever cooperated was when I needed a gun and some guys wanted to tag along as well as a geared out fellow who I'm not really sure why he came. I had nothing to lose, and that was the only reason I even trusted any of them. Sometimes I feel too paranoid about trusting new/respawning players, but I always consider what I could possibly scheme up as a plan and it makes me choose not to.

In short, I would like to be friendly, but I simply can't afford that option. The best option for the safety of my group is to kill anyone who isn't one of ours and has any possible threat. The only time we ever don't is if we see someone with just a flashlight or nothing at all. It's depressing, really, and makes me wish I didn't have to ruin someone's day all the time.

I spawned in one of the towers in Balota once and quickly heard shots of a makarov, I warily lifted my head to spot a fresh spawn sprinting around the encampent dealing with some zeds/walkers/zombies/sensitive wall hackers. I pulled out my M1014 and ended his undead pursuers' afterlives with and was speaking on direct comms (mic) the entire time telling him I'm friendly, I mean no harm, and telling him some loot was in the tower where I spawned. (I wasnt server-hoppping btw, you choose to believe me or not). Like a minute later this ungrateful child shoots me, one round to the head with his makarov. I spawned with a newfound fury and demanded he identify himself in side chat but he hadn't done so. As a result I never trust people who don't communicate in anyway, but I don't kill anyone I see on sight if they don't pose a threat or even if they have good gear. I would kill people wearing ghillie-suits as they will pose a threat to me (still it's really stupid you can't take clothes off of corpses, I mean c'mon ever heard of necrophilia?). I've only ever killed one player in the NW Airfield, and I still fell bad about it. Before my encounter everyone who heard me in direct communication was friendly and didnt fire at me after gaining their trust. I mean for fuck's sake would you hurt one who aided you in real life?

Oh... You are so wrong and you are so underestimating those fleshlight carriers... Once I had nothing but pack of road-torches. I was crawling the village for loot as I stumbled upon that guy with AK. He was a bandit but he ignored me (probably didnt want to agro the whole village). Too bad for him! I threw a torch at him and laughed my ass off as watching him being torn apart by zeds

People are a lot more trusting when I shoot them. They even let me rifle through their packs.
