character Reset fix SOLUTION

Recommended Posts

I have been testing what makes your character reset (when not wanted) and it seems to be exiting on the "please wait" screen. It is OK to esc on the "waiting for server" screen but if you esc on the "please wait" one you are going to lose you're save.

An easy way to figure out when its safe to exit is basically press esc and if the "respawn" button is highlighted and availible to click, DO NOT hit "exit". (I think the game basically thinks you are in an "unconsious" state but I'm just speculating)

On rare occasions the screen gets stuck on "please wait" while logging in, be patient and this should eventually (after 40-120secs) either join the game or auto disconnect (which is safe and wont lose you your character)

Unfortunately I have on one occasion been glitched on this screen while logging in (I know it was glitched cos the screen went blue instead of the usual black and I waited 3mins with nothing happening) and I lost my save when I pushed exited, there is nothing you can do if this happens, I have reported this in the "bug report" section.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the advice - unfortunately, waiting out the "please wait" for 40-120 seconds hasn't helped so far.

I was joining DE 1-39 (started taking notes during the login process after losing a few characters), which was nicely populated at 36/40 with a ping of 30. Got stuck in the "please wait" dead-end and am sitting there for 15 minutes now. I know that I will respawn at the coast if I exit now, so I'm going to take the chance and wait for a server reset.

Sure, not really worth the wait just for saving the gear and no, I don't really care about keeping my stuff, even though I'm currently nicely stocked - but I'd still like to know if it would help for those seeking advice like I did. I'll report back if I get booted off the server eventually or if it's still stuck in ~6 hours tops.

This happened to me, I got stuck on the Please Wait screen. I didn't click exit but I had to wait about a minute to get into the game.

Once I got into the game my character broke his legs, even tho I was on flat ground away from everything. Luckily I had morphine so it wasn't a big deal, but be ware that, even if you stick thru the please wait screen (which doesn't always work it seems) You might be joining in with broken legs

A mixed report: my PC decided to reboot after about 4.5 hours of the test, maybe some update. I had been away for a while by then, so I can't really tell what happened. I know that I have been stuck in "Please wait" for at least 2.5 hours and don't know what happened between 2.5 and 4.5, buuuuut: I just logged in where I last was, still having my equipment.

I don't know if I was kicked off the server for inactiveness, during a reboot, if I got a message while I was away or if the screen said "Please wait" for the entire 4.5 hours. But apparently I wasn't considered to be unconscious or rather in an unknown state when I technically left the server and wasn't respawned.

I think my partial conclusion would be that if you're stuck in "Please wait" for several minutes, if you Exit, you will respawn for sure. If you don't really mind, do so, but if you want at least a chance at keeping your equipment, you might want to try and wait it out. Maybe until the next server restart which boots everyone, which is around every 4 hours as far as I know, depending on server settings probably.
