combatcomm1 234 Posted December 23, 2013 I know it's early and this is more a discussion/suggestion for the devs. I hope that when zombie respawns are implemented they are finally done in a way that is realistic and adds a new gameplay element to the game. One that could bring a substantially fun replay mechanic. I hope that the zombie respawn timer will not start untill at least 75 % of the zombies in a town have been killed. They should re spawn 15, 30 minutes or later after. When they do respawn they should respawn OUTSIDE the town. In the woods or something and slowly roam into town again as a massive horde. This gives groups time to fortify the town once those things are implemented. Then, the survivors can defend towns and their "bases" against the incoming zombie hordes. Now if a "mini game" of defend the town isn't a good addition I don't know what is. Discuss.
latiasracer 8 Posted December 23, 2013 I like this idea. My friends and i had a joke based on how the Arma 2 NPCS pronounce "Grisinio" (That town just left of the NWAF, Had nothing worthwhile in the mod) and in Epoch we tried to make a home there but it was just a pain with them re-spawning all the time! I hope zombie spawns are worked out liked you suggested, And that the ability to board up/customize/reclaim buildings is implemented
LDSkinny 10 Posted December 23, 2013 I think the idea of capturing a town is a neat idea, but I'm not sure how it could be implemented with the hive system. You would have people logging into your town, so you'd basically have bandits appearing inside the perimeter. I can't imagine any fortified town lasting long, as the deathmatch players would log into the middle of it and shoot everyone they could until they died. Not to mention it would be exploitable because you could "fortify" a military base and then have a safe place to farm military loot once loot respawning is working. The alternative would be to have loot not respawn at all in a fortified location, but that's exploitable too, since if a sufficient amount of towns got fortified on one server, there wouldn't be anywhere left to get food. I think it's a great idea, don't get me wrong, I just think the hive system adds a number of challenges to implementation that would be difficult to overcome. At best we could have temporary fortifications or bases being built from scratch outside of the established towns. I think those are already in the plan if I'm not mistaken, though. I've been pretty critical of the hive system for a long time now, because the system itself is so exploitable for so many purposes that it is the source of the vast majority of complaints players have. (Server hopping for gear, characters getting wiped due to hive sync issues, ghosting, etc).
MethHeadMario 27 Posted December 23, 2013 I really like the idea but as LDSkinny said with this system they would never be able to do things like that..
combatcomm1 234 Posted December 23, 2013 Well, I think the server hopping thing will be addressed or private hives. At least you could fortify against zombies. In any case I really hope zombies dont spawn immediately and not right in front of people. There needs to be a timer so that people can benefit from clearing out towns of zombies. LouisK 85 Posted December 23, 2013 I think that is the actual idea of the devs, I don't know where but they've posted somewhere that they intend to add this mechanic in future builds, so the groups can clear an area of zombies and then hold it.
combatcomm1 234 Posted December 23, 2013 Louis that is good news but with all thier talk of base building they need to implement something for server hopping. Maybe if someone tries to hop into an area where certain amount of fortifications have been built it will not allow the joining person to spawn in that server. Well yeah, that's something that I haven't thought of. Maybe if logging on within a 50m radious of every fortification it just spawns the person further away or in a new spawn completely. combatcomm1 234 Posted December 23, 2013 Well, is there a way to get these ideas to the devs? I know everyone thinks their idea is the best and the devs need to look at them but there is no way they can go through every forum post.
