Sounds to me like the other player was instead trying to utilize new game mechanics by taking him hostage, not KoS. If you don't like the way the game is designed, don't play it. He disappears quite weirdly as his friends behind him "Shouldn't of shot my friend fag"Cool well I'm glad I shot your friend because he's a combat logger.
