Redwolf (DayZ) 125 Posted December 22, 2013 The temporary icons in the inventory for being sick, bleeding, thirsty, hungry, healthy. I actually quite like those, and would not mind if those became the permanent ones. I think they fit perfectly in the inventory screen! Anyone agree/disagree? If so, for what reasons? spinager 152 Posted December 22, 2013 Agreed. I really like the minimal UI.
ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted December 22, 2013 The current icons are obviously gross and ugly, but the idea behind an icon that changes color makes sense to me. Sadly, the mod had a pretty decent system. For some reason rocket decided he didn't like icons. I hope he's finally had a change of heart on the subject.
obsidienne 7 Posted December 22, 2013 I think beautifull icons aren't the priority in early alpha, be patient, a lot of work to do
Clarkeh 58 Posted December 22, 2013 Agreed but maybe instead of text just have an Icon which changes colour but thats my preference unsure if you the community agree with me.

ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted December 22, 2013 well he has the idea that it can all be done without icons. but that remains to be seen... I get the idea, I just don't understand the logic behind it. Why are icons bad? Maybe it "can" be done without icons, but so what? Icons are a great solution. Hunger and thirst are senses. They're always with us. Not something we really think about in phrases like "I'm thirsty." One just is thirsty. Since we can't feel these senses in the game, an icon is the ideal solution. There really isn't a better one. At least not until someone invents a way to pipe emotions directly into our cerebellums fro w/in a game. I think beautifull icons aren't the priority in early alpha, be patient, a lot of work to do Yeah, thanks. I wasn't suggesting they were, only that the current icons don't really cut it as a final solution.

I know he wants to do stomach grumbling sounds and whatnot, but no matter what it just seems contrived. and I don't even think he knows what he wants to do with some of these things. might as well stick with the mods icons until there's actually something to replace them
