serenityrick 218 Posted December 25, 2013 This added feature to the game is among the best in my opinion. It promotes a bit more social activity rather than just killing on sight. Of course, the whole combat logging thing ruins it at the moment but it if you want someone's stuff, you're going to have to hunt them down and try and rob them.. and if they don't comply, then you have to try and hit them in the the head. I love this. It's a really great idea that I'm glad they added to the game. It doesn't necessarily solve the whole kill on sight thing, you'll ALWAYS have players like that. But today I found myself specifically not shooting at someone and tried stalking them to try and shout them down and rob them. But.. again, once he heard me when I was yelling at him, he combat logged. Once that's fixed, it's going to be great and churn out a TON of awesome DayZ stories of hostage taking gone wrong which is much better than "Oh hey, another player! Let's just fucking kill him."

Rkelt 46 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) Remember that most items are not in the best shape when you grab them. Some of them are already damaged or worst... Some items can still be used(like food, etc) after theyre ruined but i think its a bug of the system, and in the future if its ruined it will be useless Edited December 25, 2013 by XjoseX
Dauntless (DayZ) 9 Posted December 25, 2013 The whole game is PvP centered. That's why it's using Arma 2. Loot or no loot, players will not need a reason to kill others. Even if it handicaps themselves in some way by doing so. That's the competitive drive in this game - outsmarting your opponent. Just because you're bad at Quake/TF2/CS/CoD/BF, hardly makes DayZ a PvP-centric game. It's a part of it and no more. The game is not just deathmatch. Get over it. Yep. Fairly sure it's the general FPS rejects who flock to DayZ primarily for PvP, due to the slower pace and ease of hiding forever for an ambush. -- That said, I understand people's complaints of so many items being ruined from a kill, as from an objective standpoint, it shouldn't be that extreme. On the other hand, I do like that it discourages KoS players, which benefits the overall game and experience. If you want to play deathmatch, there are tons of better options out there. DayZ is a rather rubbish PvP experience.
vincentvannunen@hotmail.com 0 Posted December 25, 2013 After killing someone, most items are "ruined". This assumes a bullet went through every item in the inventory, or, just because (for example) the pants were destroyed, everything in it was hit by bullets. This, unrealistically, takes all the reward for winning in PvP away from the victor. Please lesson these impacts to keep PvP worthwhile in DayZ. Suggestion: Decreasing the inventory space on items (clothing, backpacks) due to damage seems more appropriate; causing items to drop on the ground vs being destroyed automatically. "Unrealistic"? That can't get more realistic IMO. If you decide to empty a magazine into someone and find most of his gear ruined, awesome! It creates more diversity and playstyles.
