Can't use weapons

Hello. I have been trying to play this game a while but i have not been able too becouse i have been getting the cfg.weapons error. So i reinstalled arma 2 and arma 2 OA and updated everything, so now i don't get the error but still can't use weapons. (I did join a server and i picked up a crowbar and it was equipped but i was not able too use it and i don't spawn with any weapons.) Please help.
