Nightmare_Pwner 2 Posted June 22, 2012 Ok so just putting the DayZ folder in is pointless. I have 12 GB of space on my RAMdisk. What files should go into the RAMdisk to make it most effective? Im guessing the entire Operation Arrowhead folder that has DayZ in it also, but all of the textures and Chern map objects are located in the Arma 2 folder. So how can I make this work?I am also using Six launcher/updater by the way so that needs to come into play as well.
shizweak 1 Posted June 22, 2012 Not sure about six updater compatibility, but using Windows 7 I did the following:1. Set up Ram Disk (~9GB is required, mine is mapped to R:\)2. Create new folder on the Ram Disk called OAAddOns3. Copy the contents from your OA\AddOns folder to the above4. Create new folder on the Ram Disk called DayzAddOns5. Copy contents from your @dayz\AddOns folder to the above6. Rename the original "AddOns" folders above to "AddOnsBackup"7. Open a command prompt 8. Navigate to the OA folder (the actual OA folder)9. mklink /d AddOns R:\OAAddOns10. Navigate to the @dayz folder11. mklink /d AddOns R:\DayzAddOnsSeems to work for me, with no short cut changes required.
Nightmare_Pwner 2 Posted June 22, 2012 LEt me try this right now. Ok so Steps 9 and 11 I assume I am typing into the command prompt. Where am I launching the game after from than? Six launcher or what?
snowsky 0 Posted June 22, 2012 If you use mklink, you won't need to change anything else for gamestart from what I see.But if you do updates, you should change the names from the symlink and the original folder, because otherwise, the Updates would stay on the Ramdisk - which is clean after reboot. And after an update you would have to update the data on ramdisk too and change the symlinks name again
