namvet1974 12 Posted December 20, 2013 Having played the mod of dayz for the best part of 9 months I was loving the new look standalone , lots of nice touches and a lot more realistic feel to it also.However...Before people say "its alpha its going to have problems", I know, I am just pointing out my fustrations. As soon as you start you need food and water quite quickly, problem being there is hardly any about, in fact next to none.If your lucky enough to find a can of tuna, beans or spegetti your still in trouble as you need a knife, screwdriver or can opener to get into them.after eating a whole can and a drinking a bottle of water too, it was a few minutes before saying," you need to drink" and "your hungry", wtf. There isn't enough food for basic survival, I gathered equipement, mostly off dead people, and headed north, didn't even get as far as green mountain before I was dying of starvation and then collapsed. This seems to keep everyone south and around balota area, where everyone just kills everyone else and isn't the dayz I know and love. There needs to be a much much longer time for food and drink, even go as far to say use the dayz mod system works very well and the timings are spot on too. mercules 1290 Posted December 21, 2013 Food and drink is everywhere. Heck I went through a "picked over" Cherno and hit all the little tiny stores no one bothered to check instead of going to the grocery store and then church and found about 9 cans of food, several sodas, and a water bottle plus a can opener. Loot is not all clumped up in 2-4 buildings in a town now. You will find a lot more hitting the buildings with less in them because people are still int he mentality that it isn't worth it. I think I had one life where I had problems with Hunger and that was because it seemed like EVERYONE from a 10 minutes period was spawning in that little town and I just booked it out after hitting the well pump. Harba 3 Posted December 21, 2013 You start hungry and dehydrated, but once you've stocked up on food and drinks you can go for 45mins without having to eat again. I do agree though that I think you should start with a bit more food and drink in your system so that you are not relying on finding food and drink in the first 5minutes, then again all that would change if loot would respawn, meaning easier access to food and drink. Once you find a water bottle or a canteen its easy to stay hydrated by getting water from wells and ponds, only problem is food, but then again animals are not yet in so that forces you to loot buildings which don't respawn loot. So I'm just gonna say "its alpha its going to have problems"
subliminal_city 27 Posted December 21, 2013 I love how we're drinking in milliliters though, no wonder people are thirsty all the time (plastic bottles and canteens show their contents in milliliters and well, 10ml in a full canteen - must be made for a smurf). namvet1974 12 Posted December 21, 2013 I went into the "little houses" that most people would turn a blind eye too about 25 of them a few caps a few pairs of jeans but no food or water.I always check every house around as I know I will need food later, just seems a lot of hard work and like I say if I do find a can of something I then need another type of tool to get into it! The only other thing I can suggest is fill up on water and get the hell off the coast.
