An Example of Why You Shouldn't Bandit..And some tips for co-bandits

Recommended Posts

So I thought id kick start this topic with a little story of mine that occurred late last night and kind of made me think about why some people shouldn't try to bandit or at least at a certain stage of playtime.

So It all started in Berezino, Alice pack on back filled with drinks and food for the journey to the NE airfield where id plan to upgrade some of my gear. At the time, I only had a Makarov SD (Quite good for zombie elimination if you know how to make your shots count) some bandages and a couple of SD mags. So I thought id stop off at the fire station, once again one of the most notorious places for Bandits to be situated. Instead of being the horrible noob and not scoping out the situation, I took out my binoculars and scouted the area for a good 10 minutes making sure I wasn't going to run into any unwanted trouble. Of course in DayZ, there's always a fraction of it and it just so happened id have mine this day.

So, I crouch-walked through the back door of the fire station, using 3rd person to my advantage to peek around any suspicious corners (I know, I know, this can be seen to the "hardcores" as a bit lame but still..) I was given the all clear and decided to run over to the corner and pick up an AK-107 with an attached SVD scope by the looks of it and a mag of AK ammo to go with it (30 bullets to be precise, this is VERY IMPORTANT later on).

So I was about to continue on my merryway out to the supermarket when I hear the ruffle of leaves outside, anyways, I decided to dismiss the sound as an aggro'd zombie after a good 20 seconds of priming my aim at the door waiting for the unsuspecting bugger to come out and tango.

I was right and wrong about what I was suspecting....

sure enough a bambi loaded with a makarov comes storming through the door firing ferociously with rage into my chest, I hesitate, reload my AK-107, and blow the guy to kingdom come until I see the death message come up in the upper left of the screen.

I have about 20 bullets left at this stage and its not over, suddenly the red door behind me opens and the scream of an m4a1 shatters me in the spine, I spin 180 degrees and load 5 bullets into the ghillie's head, amazed as to how i'm not unconscious or dead yet and see him collapse and die.

After this fractured encounter I still had 5000 blood left 15 bullets in my AK and I was able to loot the Ghillie and the bambi of their supplies to regain my blood back.

Now heres my list from this story as to why you should not bandit together or solo if you cannot do the following:

- Make A Plan (because no random encounter's gonna put a hardcore veteran like me down, unless its an AS50... ill grant you that haha)

- Get A Good Aim Down (Seriously, this is like baseline, these guys made me feel like a dirty hacker with god-mode on once I wasted them, it was so pitiful I almost had survivors guilt over the situation.)

- Be Creative (so this was an example of a random team KoS, and it shows it doesn't always work, if the 2 guys had spoken in voice and said something along the lines of "our team has surrounded you, come out with your weapons down and we wont hurt you.." then I would have defo shat myself and they would have got their bandit brownie points from me)

- Have A Backup (if shit hits the fan for you or your friend, establish a backup, don't just stand there static spraying into me with a makarov whilst i've got the better weapon, if your losing the battle, divert the player to where your other team mate is so he can take the player down)

These are just some tips for anyone looking to do something like this, as it clearly didn't work out for the 2 guys last night :)
