Friend couldn't hear or read anything I said or wrote in Direct Communication

My friend was unable to hear or read anything I said using the direct communications channel. I've had it working with other people, so I think the problem is at his end. He can read global (etc.) channels just fine.

he probably isn't using the beta patch (or he is using version older than 93040 since direct chat has been fixed in that one)

well, global channels are disabled since 1.7.1 which requires beta 93825 or higher so if he can see global chat something is wrong

I'm running 1.7.1.5 and build 93965 and I'm seeing/talking with others in Global Chat just fine.
