ricemonkey0 0 Posted December 20, 2013 Somebody please help me. I'm trying to play Dayz, but even at the opening screen, the monitor i am playing the game on keeps turning on and off every 3 seconds, displaying the 1440x900 monitor's hardware's "Analogue" sign and Menu options that I would normally have to press the physical buttons on my monitor to have show. I am running a dual monitor set up. spec's are Processor: AMD A6-3670 APU with Radeon HD GraphicsManufacturer: AMDSpeed: 2.7 GHzNumber of Cores: 4 Video Card AMD Radeon HD 6670Manufacturer ATIChipset AMD Radeon HD 6670Dedicated Memory 1.0 GBTotal Memory 4.0 GB Memory 8.2 GB Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bitService Pack 1Size 64 BitEdition Ultimate Drive Size 465.7 GBFree 53.5 GB
smthistle 57 Posted December 20, 2013 set your monitors refresh rate to the proper setting ingame, or it might be an issue where your monitor is starting to give out from old age. make sure you ports arent messed up or fouled up and not keeping a constant connection. sounds like something phyical is wrong with your setup and cant get a proper display reading, again check the refresh rates and make sure the resolutions are not conflicting, if you run dual monitor mode and one monitor has a higher native resolution you can only run both monitors on the highest supportes res of the one that displays a lower max native res, if u are spreading it to the other monitor that has the smaller display make sure its not trying to produce a res launching the game that the monitor dosent support from the smaller native res screen. ricemonkey0 0 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) I'm skeptical that this is a physical problem such as a loose connection. I've swapped out a few cables and no dice. How exactly do i set my monitor's refresh rate ingame? Also the monitors in question are the Samsung SyncMaster SA350 (1920x1080) and the SyncMaster 920BW (1440x900), with both running at 1440x900 resolution. My main monitor is the SA350 which the game plays on. EDIT: So I think i've found the problem thanks to your help.http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?s=0b1b6ffa3e8ffb42d195690f8d40d939&p=16263222&postcount=2The value for "refresh" in my DayZ.cfg was set to '75', however my monitor's refresh rate was set to '60' http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/correct-monitor-flicker-refresh-rate#1TC=windows-7 It appears that when I set my monitor's refresh rate to 75 Hz, I get the same flickering problem that i had in-game in DayZ, except constantly even out of game. While i don't know how to solve that problem, changing the DayZ.cfg refresh value to '60' and leaving my monitor's refresh rate at '60' solved the problem. Anybody want to help clue me into why i might be getting flickering at 75 Hz? Edited December 21, 2013 by ricemonkey0
